Despite their difficult season so far, Manchester United are not expected to be one of the major players in the January transfer window.

Instead, the focus is likely to be on outgoings, with boss Erik ten Hag keen to move on a number of players who have no place in his plans. Donny van de Beek is one of them, with the midfielder closing in on a loan move to Eintracht Frankfurt.

The Dutchman's impending arrival has been welcome by his new boss, while Sir Jim Ratcliffe is facing somewhat of a dilemma as he works towards completing his buyout of a 25 percent stake in the club. Here, Mirror Football rounds up the latest Manchester United transfer news.

Ratcliffe's dilemma

Sir Jim Ratcliffe is facing a dilemma, with one of his players at Nice, Jean-Clair Todibo, keen on joining Tottenham. But Manchester United are also keen on signing the 23-year-old, with Ratcliffe closing in on buying a stake in the Red Devils.

Todibo is enjoying an impressive season at the Ligue 1 side, who are majority owned by Ratcliffe through his company INEOS. His performances have attracted the attention of both Spurs and United, with the defender keen on joining the former.

But Ratcliffe may block such a deal as he prepares to take over all football matters at Old Trafford. That would then open the door to United making a move for him in the summer, as they look to revamp their defensive options.

Eintracht Frankfurt boss Dino Toppmöller has welcomed the impending arrival of Donny van de Beek. The United midfielder is closing in on a loan move to the Bundesliga side, with no clear future at Old Trafford.

While Toppmöller was keen to make it clear that the deal has not been completed, he admitted he would be delighted to be able to count him among his options, as Frankfurt fight for European qualification.

“He’s not our player yet. I think everyone who knows a little bit about football knows that he is an outstanding footballer,” said Toppmöller. “If he comes, we would be looking forward to it.”

Van de Beek sent green light

Donny van de Beek has been given the green light to undergo a medical with Frankfurt. According to ESPN, the Dutchman has travelled out to Germany to complete the final stages of the deal.

While he will not be able to join for another fortnight, Van de Beek is keen to wrap up the move as soon as possible. The midfielder now has permission to take the medical tests, with no problems expected.
