Richard Madeley offers Peter Crouch advice as he admits blazing rows with Judy
Richard Madeley was on hand to offer Peter Crouch some advice on Tuesday's Good Morning Britain as Abbey Clancy recalled the time she received no Christmas presents.
During the latest episode of the ITV chat show, Abbey, 37, and husband Peter, 42, appeared on the show via their home in Surrey to talk about their podcast The Therapy Crouch and new book of the same name.
Presenter Charlotte Hawkins was quick to ask the couple about one story in the book, where Abbey received no presents for Christmas one year. Explaining what had happened, Abbey said: "I think that's the classic girl thing to do, 'what do you want for Christmas?' - 'oh, nothing!' I didn't literally mean it and I woke up on Christmas Day on the naughty list it seemed because I didn't get one present!"
Peter was quick to hilariously defend himself as he said: "I just think it's hard, hard to understand: 'We're not going to do presents this year but we are', it's a game that seems to be played that is difficult to comprehend" to which Abbey added: "Hopefully he'll redeem himself this year!"
Richard, 67, who recently celebrated his 37th wedding anniversary with wife Judy Finnigan, was on hand to give some advice. The GMB presenter said: "It's interpretating the coded messages, isn't it Pete? If your wife says: 'Don't bother getting me anything for my birthday', it means the opposite, it's the opposite meaning!" to which Peter replied: "I'm learning that, Richard! You know better than me!"
Abbey Clancy 'launches TV career on ITV' after podcast success with Peter CrouchRichard then went on to talk about the time he and Judy used to present This Morning together from 1988–2001, he said: "I do remember this, when Judy and I were presenting together, you know, every day, a bit like you on the podcast, if you've had a row... you can't hide it.
"So we'd be sitting there, we'd had a massive row in the car on the way to Liverpool to do the show and not talking basically, then you do the show. Within 30 seconds of going on air, people would be ringing our phone saying: 'They've had a row, haven't they!' and people can tell when you're not getting on."
Elsewhere, the duo spoke about their podcast as Abbey said: "To be honest because we film it in our house, my brother and cousin are producers. It's kind of a safe space, we don't feel like we're being interviewed so our guard is down. It just gives it a natural chat!"
To which Peter joked: "I think sometimes we say things, they'll be out there and I go: 'Oh my God!' I didn't know if it was a private one or podcast, you lose sight of what's reality!"
Teasing an upcoming episode, Abbey said: "We actually filmed a podcast last night where we were actually annoyed with each other and not really speaking, so that's going to be a fun one!"
The couple, who first started dating in 2006 and married in 2011, have four children – Sophia, 12, Liberty, eight, Johnny, five, and Jack, four.
