Simon Cowell's appearance on The Royal Variety Performance left viewers distracted on Sunday night after the Britain's Got Talent star joined Bradley Walsh on stage.

The event, which raises money for the Royal Variety Charity, saw Simon introduce this year's winner of Britain's Got Talent, Viggo Venn. Dressed in a sleek black suit and orange-tinted sunglasses, Simon welcomed the act onto the show. He said: "The best thing about making Britain's Got Talent is, it's fun.

"We see the most amazing people every year. In my opinion, we have the best prize in the world, which is to perform in front of the royal family. I can honestly say I've never seen an act like this before. He won the show and I can officially say, I now love you Viggo. I have no idea what he's going to do tonight.

"Please welcome the incredible Viggo and in his words, one more time." However, it was Simon's look that had viewers talking, with many comparing him to a late singing sensation. One Twitter user wrote: "Thought it was a George Michael tribute act when I looked up #simoncowell #RoyalVarietyPerformance." Another added: "Simon cowell has turned into George Micheal."

A fan contributed: "Simon Cowell: Tonight Matthew I'm going to be George Michael #royalVariety #royalvarietyperformance." The Prince and Princess of Wales joined the Swedish Crown Princess and Prince Daniel at the Variety show. During the pre-recorded variety show, everyone enjoyed a mix of top-notch theatre, killer tunes sung by sensational crooners, and comedy that had them giggling.

Pop legend Cher made her comeback, while fans were treated to performances by McFly, Rick Astley, and Zara Larsson. There were also performances from Paloma Faith and Spice Girl Melanie C. Despite being branded “the most stupid act we’ve had this year” by judge Simon Cowell, 34-year-old Norwegian clown Viggo waltzed off BGT with the £250,000 prize money.

Certainly one of the most unique acts to ever appear on the ITV talent show, Viggo won a standing ovation for his first performance which saw him dance along to the Daft Punk hit One More Time as he removed a seemingly never ending array of hi-vis vests.
