Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks won the hearts of audiences with their 1998 hit rom-com You've Got Mail.

The film followed the story of businessman Joe Fox (played by Tom) and independent book shop owner Kathleen Kelly (played by Meg). The pair fell in love over the Internet while keeping their identities anonymous.

However, Kathleen was in for a shock when she discovered Joe was the one who was trying to shut down her business. You've Got Mail marked Meg and Tom's third film together, but what's happened to them since?

Meg Ryan last graced the silver screen in her 2015 directorial debut Ithaca. She's now opened up about why she decided to step back from acting, revealing that she wanted to focus on her family.

"I took a giant break because I felt like there's just so many other parts of my experience as a human being I wanted to develop," the 62-year-old actress shared in a recent interview with Vanity Fair. One of her main focuses is being a mum.

Meg is mum to 31-year-old son Jack Quaid, whom she shares with ex-husband Dennis Quaid. The pair were married in February 1991 but announced their separation in June 2000, finalising their divorce in July 2001. In January 2006, Meg adopted a 14-month-old girl from China, named Daisy True.

The Sleepless in Seattle star has also faced rumours of plastic surgery, particularly after making her Hollywood comeback in What Happens Later. While she hasn't confirmed or denied having cosmetic surgery, she told PORTER Magazine in 2015 that she doesn't "pay a lot of attention, frankly," adding: "There's a lot of hatred in the world today. It's so easy to judge."
