A 23-year-old model in a relationship with a man 'twice her age' has hit back on her critics saying she is the "mature one" out of the two.

Amira Rajab says when she first met fitness coach Bryce Wood, now 44, they didn't know each other's age.

They've now been engaged since July last year when Amira was just 21 and they met "years ago."

The two support each other online through their respective social media pages. Bryce recently commented on one of her posts: "The best partner I could have ever asked for! I love you."

On his own page he posted a picture of the two of them together and wrote: "Because every day is a blessing to get to spend time with you."

On her page she shared a picture of the couple at the beach with the accompanying text: "I love living life with you."

But the age gap between the two was focused on by other online denizens. One commented: "I always think 'awww' but then think 'what's wrong that he can't find someone his own age?"

Another claimed: "there is always some kind of red flag with older men."

One noted: "When she was born he was 21."

But Amira claimed Bryce wasn't out looking for a younger woman when they met and both just clicked before they realised the age gap.

She called on her followers to "stop being so quick to judge."

Amira wrote: "My family is 100% supportive of my relationship because they know my fiancé."

Writing in support of the age-gap, one follower wrote: "As an 11 year age gap couple, here's some advice! Don't tell anyone about the age gap because you're going to have commenters like this."

Some age gaps are far larger. A couple in a 39-year age gap relationship has been forced to defend their love for each other from vicious trolls who claim they're "sick". Willow, 23, swiped right to David, 62, on - and started dating the real estate developer just one hour after meeting him in person.

Since meeting three months ago, the couple have jetted off to the Bahamas three times, and Las Vegas twice to go on lavish date nights. However, their relationship has attracted criticism online, with some users claiming the model is "only in it for the money" and is a "gold digger".

Talking to YouTube channel's David, from Charlotte, North Carolina, said: "Some people say I'm just a sugar daddy. I wake up every morning and I'm like 'Do I have a model in my bed?'." Responding to that, Willow said: "He still thinks it's too good to be true and I'm like 'I'm just here, existing'."

She says when she first met David, she didn't ask his age or job because she didn't want to be "influenced" by anything outside of his personality. David said: "I was a little concerned about her age because I was like 'You're really young'."
