I'm A Celeb's Nigel Farage shares 'nightmare' drinking challenge ITV messed up

I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! star Nigel Farage revealed ITV had messed up with a drinking trial Down Your Sorrows on day seven which he did with Tony Bellew.

Farage, 59, struggled with the challenge and said he made producers change it halfway through it as it was too difficult. He claimed they would never repeat the trial in the way they originally had to do it as it was dangerous for their health. He explained: "The drinking challenge was a nightmare they will never repeat.

"They know they got it wrong. They made us seriously ill. Tony was throwing up all afternoon and all evening. He was chucking his guts up. I was - and this was one of the biggest piss-takes in camp - I was lying there propped up against the log for hours going, 'bleurghhh'.

"They all took the p**s out of me. they were all going, 'Chuck it up. You'll be far better chucking it up'. And I didn't chuck it up. I probably should have chucked it up really. I should have probably done that. Tony was spewing for hours. They had doctors watching and psychologists watching a lot.

"It wasn't drinks, it was more like porridge. The first drink I had, you could have poured it upside down quickly and it wouldn't have fallen out. I said to Ant and Dec, after three, I said, 'Alright...I quite like a pint but... you told me this was a time-unlimited trial.

"So I'm going to drink all six. Tony might end up in hospital but I'm going to drink all six. But you might be here till three o'clock because I cannot take the weight of this heavy stuff'. So what they did is they liquefied the last three pints so they were less stodgy. I necked all of the last three and I think they got that trial wrong and they will never repeat it."

It comes after Farage defended the reported £1.5million payout for joining the show. The controversial politician angered fans when he was announced as a campmate. Viewers were further enraged when they discovered how much he pocketed for the three-week stint.

Appearing on Good Morning Britain, Farage defended himself to host Ed Balls when asked about his pay. He said: "Look, the money. Of course. What's wrong with that? I gave up. I gave up a very successful career in the City of London in the commodity markets. Colleagues of mine are on the rich list.

"I gave all that up. I live very modestly and have done for years. I did it because I had a political career. I've never moaned about it. Never complained about it. But is this the biggest paycheck I've ever had? Yes, it is. What is wrong with that?."
