Larian Studios is already trying to ensure Xbox players have the best experience possible by moving quickly to solve an important progress issue.

Baldur’s Gate 3 hasn’t even been available on Xbox platforms for even a week yet. Already, however, developer Larian Studios is moving quickly to ensure that people playing on Xbox Series X|S can enjoy performance parity with those on PS5 and PC by acting swiftly on all known issues. Today, for instance, the version of Baldur’s Gate 3 on Xbox has received a small update – available to download now – to solve a problem related to progression.

As revealed in a post from the official @LarianStudios account on Twitter, the studio has “pushed a small update to Baldur’s Gate 3 containing stability fixes”. The information in the tweet was very brief but is aimed at fixing “issues of saves disappearing” after players on Xbox would experience a crash. The update is already available to download on Xbox Series S|X right now. So if you’re someone with this issue and haven’t already, Larian advises you to “manually update your Xbox through the system menu” to feel its effects.

This latest update is, of course exclusive, to the Xbox version of the game, and isn’t part of any main patch notes update or hotfix. The last hotfix came this past weekend in Hotfix #13, which, as detailed in an official Baldur’s Gate 3 blog post, also aimed to fix crash issues (at the end of Act 2 specifically) and a certain trading exploit. Hotfix #13 has since been applied to all platforms – including Xbox.

Vampire’s kiss

After much speculation and constant teasing, Baldur’s Gate 3 on Xbox finally launched at the tail-end of last week following The Game Awards livestream. This was after Larian Studios’ game won no less than seven different awards as part of the show including Best Multiplayer Game, Best Performance, Best RPG, and Game of the Year. A physical version of Baldur’s Gate 3 will arrive in early 2024 on Xbox Series X|S and PS5 after it initially launched as digital-only.

Larian fails to mention in its tweet what the exact cause of the save state losses following a crash actually is, but it’s extremely nice to see that the team is primed and ready to move quickly on Baldur’s Gate 3’s newest platform. After all, the studio didn’t win the Best Community Support award for nothing.
