Six more countries have been granted access to the Xbox Game Pass Friends & Family plan, which offers a substantial discount on the service.

Xbox owners in Chile, Hungary, Israel, New Zealand, South Africa, and Sweden join Ireland and Colombia in being able to access the Xbox Game Pass Friends & Family Plan. The plan allows up to five players across Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC to share an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription, essentially splitting the cost five ways.

For example, in Ireland, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate costs €12.99 a month, meanwhile, a month of Xbox Game Pass Friends & Family is €21.99, which ends up at about €4.39 each when split between five people.

Microsoft announced the new rollout in an Xbox Wire blog post, but didn't mention when we might see the option make its way to the UK, USA, Australia and other countries. Based on the Xbox Game Pass Friend & Family plan's current prices, it’s likely to be roughly around £20 / $25 / AU$35 per month if it arrives in these regions.

It’s worth noting that Twitter user @gamepasscounter (with an image provided to them by Resetera user Sullivan) noticed the plan being advertised on the US Xbox app on PC last month. If it ends up coming to the US it’s safe to assume It’ll make its way over to the UK too.

All in the Family

Xbox Game Pass Friends & Family began life as a pilot initially, and is now ramping up to a fully-fledged rollout. With the six additioanl; countries being added we can assume the pilot's going well and that we'll see the plan make its way to all regions soon enough.

Nintendo already offers a similar family plan with its Nintendo Switch Online service. It allows up to eight people to share a single subscription which costs £31.49 / $34.99 / AU$54.95 per year (or £59.99 / $79.99 / AU$109.95 if you opt to include the Expansion Pack).

Comparatively speaking, the value of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate far outweighs that of a Nintendo Switch Online subscription, and while it may not be open to eight members,. sharing it between five people is fairly generous! Something to be thankful for as other subscription services like Netflix continue to hike up their prices.

Paying just £4 / $5 / AU$7 per month for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate is one hell of a deal so let's hope Microsoft continues the rollout of Xbox Game Pass Friends & Family plan with an appealing price point to match.
