Susanna Reid's real age leaves GMB fans in disbelief as she celebrates birthday
Good Morning Britain fans have been left shocked by Susanna Reid's real age after she shared a special update on her social media.
The ITV host took to Instagram on Sunday to upload a joyful birthday post alongside her mother, Sue Smith, with her 648k followers. In the touching snap, Susanna can be seen grinning widely next to her beloved mum with a powerful message about getting older.
"53! Ageing is a blessing," she captioned the photo, before adding, "So happy to be able to celebrate my happy birthday weekend with my mum and my family around me. Feeling loved and happy - thanks all." In the fuss-free selfie, Susanna is wearing a knit cable cardigan over a black top and a pair of reading glasses perched on her head.
Meanwhile, Sue, 83, is looking equally cosy in a stripy black and red turtle neck as she poses proudly next to her daughter. It didn't take long for Susanna's fans to respond to the post, with many taking the opportunity to send the breakfast show presenter sweet birthday wishes. Several folks also commented on Susanna's age, gushing that the BAFTA-nominated journalist appears much younger than 53.
"Happy birthday Susanna and I hope you had a great day and you don't look a day over 20 xxx," one person wrote, while another said: "Happy Birthday you ageless wonder." A third person commented, "You look fabulous at 53 Susanna! Hope you’ve had a lovely day :)." Others resonated with Susanna's heartfelt words on aging, commending the former Strictly Come Dancing runner-up for her inspiring stance on the matter. "Happy birthday and hug your mother it is a total blessing, we never know what’s around the corner apart from GMB," one person said.

She also revealed on her Instagram Story that Piers Morgan had sent her a low alcoholic present for her special day, thanking the broadcaster for giving her 'gift that ensured I had a clear head' for her early work start.
Susanna has never been shy about her close relationship with her mother Sue, a retired nurse who today spends her time volunteering as a health visitor. She's also big into fundraising, completing a sponsored abseil for St. Thomas's charity at the age of 78. "She is amazing, my hero," Susanna gushed about her beloved mother in 2021. Despite getting on like a house on fire today, Sue and her famous daughter weren't always so tight. The former medic has previously admitted that she struggled to parent Susanna in her youth, telling Good Morning Britain in 2016 that the presenter had a huge change in attitude when she became a teenager.
“Susanna was lovely until she was 13," Sue recalled. "She was absolutely wonderful. She was a joy. When she was 13, overnight she turned absolutely horrible. When she was 15 we sort of said, ‘Look, hang on a minute, either we’re going to get on well and support each other or we’re going to make each other’s lives hell’ and we’ve been best friends ever since. I’m proud of her."
