I'm A Celeb 2023 stars dramatic transformation – weight loss to 'frailty'

As this year's series of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! draws to a close, some of its stars have undergone quite a transformation during their time in the jungle.

Marvin Humes was the latest contestant to highlight the effects of appearing on the ITV show after the 38-year-old JLS star was given the boot by viewers on Friday. The singer was seen relaxing with his wife, Rochelle Humes, on his return to the plush five-star JW Marriott Gold Coast Resort and Spa soon afterwards, as the This Morning presenter hailed his newfound physique.

Sharing a snap of his toned body on Instagram, the 34-year-old gushed: "Look at his abs! During the medical, they said he lost something incredible like a stone or something!"

Marvin later reflected on his lack of sleep after his experience with green ants and cockroaches left him paranoid. "I struggled with green ants," he admitted. "The trials with all the cockroaches, the rats, the spiders, all of that was hard and not easy but the green ants but they won. The last few nights I’ve been having nightmares, dreaming I was doing trials in my sleep. I felt these things crawling around my legs. I woke up and looked into my sleeping bag and there was a cockroach in there. You get so accustomed to jungle life."

In the short time in which Grace Dent was in camp, meanwhile, she underwent a shocking transformation that saw her morph from a confident food critic into a frail and broken shadow of herself. The 50-year-old columnist was all smiles when she first touched down in Australia to begin her journey.

But two weeks on, however, she looked exhausted, washed out, and demoralised by her experience as fans became increasingly concerned by what they saw of her on screen. One of 10 original celebrities to enter the camp, Grace began as one of the most enthusiastic stars on the show - throwing herself into gruelling challenges and proudly cheering on her co-stars throughout their own daunting trials.

That all changed in week two, however, after Grace was one of several contestants forced to live in Snake Rock where they were given basic rations and forced to sleep on the floor. The experience appeared to quickly take its toll on Grace as her enthusiasm waned and she looked more and more frail with each passing day.

With news on November 26 that she had been voted to perform another trial, Grace looked devastated, prompting show bosses to allow her to leave the show on medical grounds. An ITV spokesperson said at the time: "Unfortunately Grace Dent has left the show on medical grounds. She has been a great campmate and will be missed by her fellow celebrities and viewers alike." While one of Grace’s friends said: "She is heading back to London today. She is tired and she just wants to get home."

Another early departure, Jamie Lynn Spears, showcased her weight loss in more a positive manner. Viewers saw the younger sister of pop superstar Britney Spears struggle through nail-biting trials, scrape by on basic rations, and break down in tears as she missed her kids. And like Grace, the star ultimately ended up walking away from the series after just 10 days - again citing medical reasons.

On her return to the US, Jamie Lynn reconnected with her former Dancing With The Stars pals - appearing in the grand finale seemingly fully recovered. The 32-year-old had previously taken part in the American version of Strictly Come Dancing, only to be voted off in week two enabling her to head to Australia.

After putting herself through her paces with dance practice, and effectively starving herself in the I’m A Celeb camp, Jamie Lynn showed off her newly-toned figure in a shimmering gold dress on the show.
