Meghan Markle's friend has furiously blasted suggestions made about King Charles and Princess Kate.

In recent weeks, His Majesty and The Princess of Wales have been at the centre of a royal race row, with Omid Scobie suggesting they were the two royals Meghan and Prince Harry suggested made racial comments about Archie. In a 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey, Meghan claimed there had been "concerns and conversations about how dark [Archie's] skin might be when he was born."

The couple explained they wouldn't be identifying the members of the family but insisted it was not the late Queen Elizabeth or Prince Philip. In a translation new book, Endgame, Omid Scobie, who has previously been briefed by Meghan, suggested that it was the King and Catherine.

Scobie claimed he had no idea how the names of the Monarch and the Princess of Wales ended up in the Dutch copy – but in recent days, backtracked and admitted he had disclosed them in his first draft. In an opinion piece, he said: "Unbeknownst to me at the time, early and uncleared text was provided to the Dutch publisher in order for them to start work on the translation, with the understanding that their translation would be updated to reflect the final version of the book I officially submitted."

Reacting to the news, Meghan's ex-pal, Lizzie, fumed: "We’re not being fooled, we know this book has had help from Meghan Markle, it may have Scobie's name on the front cover but we all know she’s helped him before. This is another attempt to put a firework into the Royal Family and split them up accusing King Charles of Catherine of being racist. Meghan won't be the top dog. If she's welcomed back, it'll just mean another book.

"Scobie said he initially had no idea how the King and the Princess of Wales's name got into the Dutch translation but then later admitted he did include it in the original manuscript. This is just like when Meghan said sorry to a court after 'forgetting' she gave the clearance for her former staff to brief Scobie on Finding Freedom. Catherine has never put a foot wrong and has been the backbone of the future of the Royal Family."

While the royals are yet to address the claims directly, the Mirror previously revealed they were eyeing up legal action after British broadcaster Piers Morgan decided to name them on his TalkTV show. Meanwhile, Omid who has previously been branded "Meghan Markle's mouthpiece" has denied having any guidance from the Duchess ahead of the release of Endgame.

When the Sussexes made their explosive allegations on Oprah, in an interview broadcast around the world, they set in train a public debate about who in the royal family might harbour such racially charged views. In a multicultural modern Britain such allegations against the monarchy generated debate on a matter of such public importance with Scobie's new book claiming to add to that public debate

The pair met in 2013 when Lizzie was asked to sit with the actress at a charity event held by her pal John Caudwell. However, when Meghan met Harry, she cut all contact with her British pals, including Lizzie.
