CBS star claims Buckingham Palace issued ‘demand’ ahead of Prince Harry talk

Anderson Cooper claims Buckingham Palace made a demand to CBS ahead of their chat with Prince Harry, which aired stateside on Sunday evening.

The journalist, a major celebrity in his own right in the US, sat down with the Duke of Sussex, 38, ahead of the release of his memoir titled Spare.

And as Anderson confirmed the show had reached out to the palace for comments he said: "Its representatives demanded that before considering responding, 60 Minutes provide them with out report prior to airing it tonight."

However, he revealed the programme denied them this luxury, insisting "it's something we never do".

The candid discussion saw the prince open up on some of his most personal moments throughout his life, including the death of his mother, Princess Diana, in 1997.

Harry was aged just 12 at the time of her death when the car she was travelling in crashed in a tunnel in Paris.

He explained how he viewed images of the immediate aftermath of the devastating accident when he was an adult, but admits he's grateful towards those who shielded him from some of the more gruesome pics.

When asked why Harry wanted to see files that contained photographs of the crash scene, the Prince said it was for "proof".

He went on to tell the journalist he used to believe his mum would "reappear" for many years, admitting he held out this hope until adulthood.

Harry explained he would wake every morning wondering "maybe this is the day that she's gonna reappear".

And he claimed older brother William also had these "similar thoughts".

Elsewhere in the interview, Harry almost directly quoted his late mum when discussing his father's relationship with Camilla.

Diana famously discussed her husband's extra-marital relationship with Camilla during an interview with Martin Bashir in 1995 - delivering the immortal line: "There were three of us in this marriage, so it was a bit crowded."

In his upcoming memoir, Harry writes how he and his brother begged their father not to marry in Camilla in February 2005 - something the Duke of Sussex discussed with Anderson during their interview.

"She was the villain," he declared in the conversation. "She was the third person in their marriage. She needed to rehabilitate her image."
