Aston Villa have put themselves right in the mix as part of this season’s title race and will face leaders Arsenal in a crucial game on Saturday.

Villa earned a statement victory on Wednesday, beating Man City at Villa Park and now turn their attention to Arsenal. The Gunners won on their travels on Tuesday night, beating Luton with a last minute victory courtesy of Declan Rice to establish a two-point lead at the league’s summit.

It is a meeting between two of the league’s most in-form sides, with both having lost just once in their past six outings. In that time, Arsenal have racked up five victories to Villa’s four and will look to land what could be a key early blow in the title race against their former boss Unai Emery.

In another interesting subplot to the match, the league’s best home team hosts the side with the best away record. Villa have won all seven of their matches at Villa Park this season and come into this one hoping to extend that record.

Arsenal beat Villa home and away last season, but they will know that they face a very different proposition this time around and here is how you can follow the action:

Team news

Unai Emery’s injury list has not grown despite a packed fixture list and his only absentees remain Emiliano Buendia, Tyrone Mings and Bertrand Traore. This means that he is likely to name an unchanged side to that which beat Man City on Wednesday night.

Arsenal, meanwhile, have a five-man list of absentees, with Jurrien Timber, Thomas Partey, Emile Smith Rowe, Fabio Vieira and Takehiro Tomiyasu all missing out. Following the win at Luton on Tuesday, the one likely change will be Oleksandr Zinchenko coming in for Jakub Kiwior.
