Forest Whitaker's ex-wife Keisha Whitaker has died

Forest Whitaker's ex-wife, Keisha Whitaker has died at the age of 51.

The former couple's daughter True, 25, shared the heartbreaking news in an emotional social media tribute. She wrote on her Instagram Stories: "goodbye mommy. I love you 4ever and beyond. the most beautiful woman in the world ... thank you for teaching me every single thing I know. I'll see you in my dreams and I'll feel you in my heart."

She shared a throwback image of her mum alongside the heartfelt tribute before sharing more throwbacks alongside tunes such as Donny Hathaway's A Song For You.

Keisha's cause of death is not yet known.

Forest and Keisha welcomed three daughters during their relationship with True being the youngest. Their other children are Autumn, 32, and Sonnet, 27.

The couple first met on the set of Blown Away in 1994 and tied the knot two years later. Keisha previously said she thought her ex had a "gentle soul and a nice spirit".

In 2018, Forest filed for divorce, citing "irreconcilable differences" for the split reason, bringing to an end their relationship of over 20 years. Keisha was also an actress and producer. She was best known for her appearance in Proud in 2004 - which was written by her brother Jeffrey Nash - and her role as executive producer on 2008 flick Kassim the Dream.

Following the sad news of her passing, fans took to social media to share messages of condolence. One Twitter user wrote: "RIP Keisha Whitaker. Sending love and light to the Whitaker family & friends."

Another added: "RIP Keisha Whitaker," while many others shared the news along with broken heart emojis.
