Drew Carey's ex-fiancée, Amie Harwick murderer has been sentenced to life in prison.

Harwick was strangled before falling to her death from a third floor balcony. The 38-year-old Hollywood sex therapist's cause of death has been determined after an autopsy by the Los Angeles County Coroner's Office.

The Blast has reported that Harwick was killed by a "blunt force trauma" to the head and torso. This is thought to have happened after she fell from a third-floor balcony.

There has been a secondary cause of death listed as well, which reveals she perished from "manual strangulation," before her fall. Harwick's ex-boyfriend Gareth Pursehouse has been charged with her murder by Los Angeles District Attorney's Office.

Gareth was been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole on Wednesday after a jury found him guilty of first-degree murder with a special circumstance allegation after a trial in September. It was reported in 2020 that was responsible for her falling over the balcony.

Price Is Right host Drew Carey was engaged to Harwick last year but split after just a short time together. Carey issued a statement following her death, which read: "Amie and I had a love that people are lucky to have once in a lifetime.

"She was a positive force in the world, a tireless and unapologetic champion for women, and passionate about her work as a therapist. I am overcome with grief. I would like to thank you in advance for giving myself and everyone who loved Amie privacy while we try to work through this tragic situation."

At the time of Gareth's arrest, he was released on $2million bail but was soon re-arrested with 'no bail' after prosecutors revealed that he was 'lying in wait' for Amie after spending more than an hour at her home before allegedly killing her. Amie was allegedly murdered in the early hours of Sunday morning, with the Los Angeles Police Department saying they responded to a call of a "woman screaming" at around 1.16am.

Gareth had a previous with Harwick as she filed for a restraining order against him, claiming he had "choked me, suffocated me, pushed me against walls, kicked me, dropped me to the ground with force... slammed my head into the ground, and punched me with a closed fist." The restraining order was granted for three years but this expired in 2015.
