Shannen Doherty underwent brain surgery after finding out husband was cheating
Shannen Doherty has opened up about two of the most difficult months of her life after her brain tumour surgery.
The Beverly Hills 90210 star has launched her own podcast, Let’s Be Clear with Shannen Doherty, and has seized the opportunity to detail for fans how hard life has been after the breakdown of her marriage and her illness.
Shannen, 52, detailed to fans how she went into surgery to have her brain tumour removed after finding out that her 11-year marriage to her third husband Kurt Iswarienko was “essentially over.” She said: “I went into that surgery early in the morning and I went in after I found out that my marriage was essentially over, that my husband had been carrying on an affair for two years."

She continued: “To not go in that surgery, even though, being very clear, he wanted to go, I couldn't go into that surgery with him there. I felt so betrayed.” Shannen revealed how she had discovered Kurt had been cheating on her for two years when they split.
She admitted that she was supported by her mother, brother and friends through her operation as she dealt with the heartbreak. She continued: “At the end of the day, I just felt so incredibly unloved by someone I was with for 14 years, by someone I loved with all my heart.
"Just to have to go through all of that while trying to figure out if you’re going to get a f****** divorce and trying to get to the truth of that." Shannen has been receiving cancer treatment for the last eight years, and had brain surgery and radiotherapy to her brain at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in January.
The couple filed for divorce in the same month with the paperwork citing "irreconcilable differences." Shannen shared that she was hopeful of finding out the true extent of Kurt's infidelity and became “obsessed” with getting the details “through conversations, expecting someone to be honest with me.”
Shannen has been through a lengthy cancer battleShe said:“If you share 14 years together and you cheated, doesn’t that person deserve the absolute truth regardless of how much that hurts them?” She then admitted she “also spoke to the girlfriend of two years that he cheated on me with.”
She continued: “It was embarrassing. I am horrified that I can’t keep a relationship together. I think it is a reflection me, but this one I think this one is on him. I’ve failed three times at marriage, but I still believe in love.” Shannen was married Ashley Hamilton from 1993 to 1994, and Rick Salomon from 2002 to 2003.
She heartbreakingly admitted feeling some responsibility for the breakdown of her marriage - partly due to her illness. She added: “I also take some responsibility for the demise of our marriage - actually that’s not true.
"Let me rephrase that, I do not take responsibility for the demise of our marriage, I take responsibility for some of the issues in our marriage. I take responsibility not only because of how I was but because of how cancer impacted my marriage and how it impacted him the second time around.”
