Chelsea will seek to inflict back-to-back defeats on Manchester United as the visitors to Old Trafford in Wednesday night's Premier League fixture.

The Blues will be buoyant following their weekend win against Brighton and will seek to keep up their positive momentum as a packed December fixture list continues. United, meanwhile, had enjoyed a strong run of four wins in five games before their weekend defeat away to Newcastle.

Mauricio Pochettino's side's win at the weekend was an indicator that their form may be improving and they will seek to cut the five point gap United currently hold over them. Chelsea sit 10th in the league, with United currently in seventh place and a win for the Blues would drag United even further away from the top four.

Chelsea have not won at Old Trafford on their past four visits, with two draws before a 4-1 defeat to Ten Hag's United back in May. However, much has changed since then and a far closer match is expected this time around.

Team news:

United's tough start to the season has been contributed to by a lengthy injury list and this week's match will be no different, with eight players unavailable for Erik ten Hag. This means that Kobbie Mainoo is set to start once again in what is expected to be a midfield double-pivot alongside Scott McTominay behind Bruno Fernandes.

Chelsea, meanwhile, will be boosted by returns for Reece James and Marc Cucurella who both served suspensions against Brighton. However, Conor Gallagher's red card means that he will miss this match alongside an extensive cast of injured talent including Ben Chilwell, Wesley Fofana and Christopher Nkunku.
