Woman teaches neighbour a lesson after they abandon dog for new puppy
Before welcoming a dog into your home, you should ask yourself whether you're ready for such a commitment. As dogs cannot take care of themselves, you'll need to provide them with food, water, and shelter as well as physical and mental stimulation for their entire lives.
But sometimes, people quit dog ownership when it becomes too hard - or something better comes along - which is exactly what happened in one street in America. Taking to Reddit, a woman shared how her neighbour abandoned their dog at a local rescue centre to make room for a new puppy.
The poor dog, named Missy, spent a whole month in kennels before she realised what had happened. Wanting to help Missy and teach her neighbours a lesson, she decided to adopt the dog, saying: "I can tell she's been depressed and stressed [in the shelter]."
She shared a photo of Missy in the shelter and when she arrived at her new home, showing the difference a few hours can make in a dog's life. "This is Missy in the shelter and when she realised she's never going back," she added.
Missy has only been living with the woman for a few days, and her previous owners haven't noticed her in the garden yet. The woman added: "She seems relieved to be here. She hasn't seen the neighbours yet. Missy always ran to the fence to give kisses when I went outside so we've always had a really good relationship." One user commented: "'Hey, the grass is greener on this side!' - Missy".
Frenchie 'obsessed' with actor Henry Cavill and has shrine dedicated to himAnother user praised: "You're such a good person. My neighbour moved to Florida and just dropped their 18-year-old cat off at the vet like it wasn't their problem anymore. So many of us would have taken her but we didn't find out till she was put down." A third user thanked: "Thank you for your big heart. You gave her a better life. She seems to understand this is where she is supposed to be."
