Election expert Nigel Farage has pulled out all the stops to try to be King of the Jungle – even pre-recording a selection of videos explaining to his fans how to vote.

The former Brexit campaigner teamed up with his employers at GB News to create one video which shows him in a suit with a jungle themed background. He was all about the leave vote during Brexit but on the video he says: "I'm asking you to vote remain, no seriously, vote for me to remain in the jungle. Now the easiest way to do it is to get the I'm A Celebrity app that gives you five free votes or you can phone or text."

The video forms part of a story on the GB News website and has been given a prominent position at the top of the site. His team will also share the video on his social media with details of phone lines in a bid to get more votes. A separate shorter video has also been made for TikTok and 'X' where Farage says: "Yes it's me, Mr Brexit, saying vote remain, please vote for me to remain in the jungle."

Other celebrities in camp are encouraging their fans to vote with their agents using photos and text-based messages on social media, but Farage has gone one step further with his pre-recorded videos. Viewers are voting to 'save' their favourite celebrity in camp each night, and the person with the lowest number of votes will leave tonight in the first eviction.

Farage, 59, is no stranger to campaigning having won and lost his fair share of votes over the years. He served as Member of the European Parliament (MEP) for South East England from 1999 until the UK's exit from the European Union in 2020.

He has also stood for election to the House of Commons seven times, in five general elections and two by-elections, but is yet to win. These include defeats in the election in Eastleigh in 1994, Salisbury (1997), Bexhill and Battle (2001), South Thanet (2005), Buckingham (2010) and finally South Thanet again in 2015, when he narrowly lost out and managed 32% of the vote.

One person unlikely to be voting for Farage is his own daughter Isabelle Farage, known as Izzy, who is out in Australia. She admitted she would like to spend some time Down Under with him if he does exit before the finals next weekend.

Izzy said: "I think he could do really well in the competition. But I'm selfishly hoping he comes out fairly soon and I can give him a hug because it's been so strange to see him in this environment, but he's done so well we're all so proud of him."
