The remains found in a rubbish chute at a posh NYC building have been identified as a missing 24-year-old woman. The body of Jaclyn Elmquist was discovered on Friday afternoon at +Art at 540 West 28th St, with police stating no criminality is suspected.

Cops spotted missing person posters in the building where the body was found and managed to connect the dots. It's reported that she had been at a work do on Thursday.

She didn't return home to her Brooklyn flat and failed to turn up for work the next day, sparking worry among her mates and colleagues. Her family were able to track her phone to 184 11th street before they lost signal. Her body was found just a few blocks away.

Yesterday, a woman claiming to be her cousin shared a missing person's post to Twitter. The post said: "my cousin Jackie Elmquist has been missing since last night after she left a work party in Manhattan- she didn't come home or show up for work this morning please spread the word so people in the area can see it since all of her family lives here in Minnesota.

A spokesman for NYPD said on Saturday: "A 24-year-old woman was found unconscious and unresponsive in a garbage compactor at the bottom a trash chute at 540 West 28th Street."

"EMS responded and pronounced her dead at the scene. Preliminary investigations suggest she died having fallen down the garbage chute. No criminality is suspected at this time. The medical examiner will confirm an exact cause of death. At this time the investigation remains ongoing."

Elmquist worked in recruitment at Mission Staffing. CCTV from the night she disappeared shows her walking unsteadily and bumping into a wall. The police are looking into what happened.

Her grandad, John Elmquist, told The Post that her dad James and sister Madalyn were in New York, but they didn't know much about what had happened to her.

He said: "At this point, we don't know anymore than you do, I guess...My son and his daughter are in New York now and we're waiting to hear from them."
