Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have been accused of "chipping away at the foundations" of the royal family.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been blasted by Dai Davies, a former divisional commander in the Metropolitan Police who worked closely with Queen Elizabeth and senior royals for spreading a "false narrative" about the family. He said: “ Prince Harry and Meghan and those who purport to talk for them are slowly damaging the status of the Royal family.

“There is a false narrative that is being peddled about Palace racism. It’s not at all unusual to ask what a baby will look like," Dai added. "What the Duke and Duchess are doing is giving succour to those who would want to replace the monarchy and get rid of it. They are chipping away at the foundations of the institution.

“Unless there is respect for the King and what he stands for, everything else around him crumbles away," he told the Telegraph. It comes after Endgame author Omid Scobie shocked readers of his book as he claimed two members of the Royal Family who allegedly discussed the colour of Meghan and Prince Harry's son were named in letters between the Duchess of Sussex and King Charles.

The couple previously accused an unnamed senior royal of expressing "concern" about Prince Archie's skin colour during an interview with Oprah Winfrey. When the Sussexes made their explosive allegations on Oprah, in an interview broadcast around the world, they set in train a public debate about who in the royal family might harbour such racially charged views.

The Royal Family were said to be “united in outrage” after the King and Princess of Wales were dragged into the royal race row and named in the Dutch version of the new explosive book. The controversial journalist appeared on ITV’s This Morning programme today to confirm an investigation had begun at the publishers responsible for translating his book into Dutch, but denied including the identities of the two senior royals in his manuscript.

Speaking of his frustration of the scandal that has sent shockwaves through the monarchy, Mr Scobie laid the blame squarely on the publisher in the Netherlands, saying: “I never submitted a book that had those names in it.”

The Dutch translator who worked on the book today insisted the titles of the King and Princess of Wales were in the manuscript she was sent. Saskia Peeters claimed she did not add the names to the Dutch version of the book. Speaking from her home in Arnhem, she said: “As a translator, I translate what is in front of me.

"The names of the royals were there in black and white. I did not add them. I just did what I was paid to do and that was (to) translate the book from English into Dutch.”

Xander, the publishers, released a statement which read: “Xander Uitgevers is temporarily withdrawing the book Eindstrijd by Omid Scobie from sale. An error occurred in the Dutch translation and is currently being rectified.”
