Strictly Come Dancing bosses share update on results show after fan confusion
Strictly Come Dancing fans have been left baffled over Sunday night's results show, following the shock exit of Nigel Harman and Katya Jones from the competition earlier today.
The EastEnders actor pulled out of the BBC reality series on Saturday just hours ahead of the Quarter Finals, bringing his journey towards winning that coveted Glitterball Trophy to a bittersweet end. In a statement released by the BBC, it was announced that Nigel, 50, was unable to continue due to sustaining an injury, which was later confirmed to be a broken rib. The soap star was due to perform the Charleston to Mary Poppins' Step in Time for the Musicals-themed special, which was introduced to Strictly back in 2014 and has been a fan favourite ever since.
After Nigel's appearance on Saturday night's show alongside Katya to mark the end of his time in the glitzy competition, viewers are wondering what will happen on tomorrow night's results show. The number of remaining couples was expected to drop from five to four during Sunday's elimination, but if it were to go ahead now, the number would plummet to just three. With next week's Semi-Finals designed for four couples, it would disrupt the whole schedule of episodes if a couple were to be voted off tomorrow night.
"The beeb probably panicking to fill the results show slot with something else tomorrow. Get well soon Nigel Harman," one person wrote, while another asked, "Is there still a result show tomorrow night if no point now as no one going??" A third admitted: "Is it me but does it all feel a bit pointless with no public vote and no elimination? Will there be a show tomorrow?"
Another person complained that the 'excitement is gone' for Sunday night without an elimination, suggesting that they wouldn't be tuning in for the episode at all. At the end of Saturday's show, host Claudia Winkleman told viewers that they'd be finding out which two dances the remaining couples would be performing in the Semi-Finals, before Tess Daly added, "We'll have a spectacular group number inspired by My Fair Lady." Joss Stone was also confirmed to be performing a song from her new musical, The Time Traveller's Wife. Claudia and Tess did not confirm, however, if there would be an elimination, leaving viewers at home to speculate on what's to come on tomorrow's show.
EastEnders' Jake Wood's snap of son has fans pointing out the pair's likeness"It's quite hard to talk right now," Katya admitted during a tearful appearance on Saturday's episode, before saying she's "loved every moment" of "creating magic on the dancefloor" with Nigel over the past couple of months. "I hope you got something out of this that you're going to cherish forever, in your broken rib," she added playfully, before apologising for making him laugh. The Casualty star then hailed his mentor for everything she's done for him, including her abundance of creative ideas and ongoing support, before finishing off his heartfelt speech by telling her, "You're part of me."
