Warzone Mobile – release date, Verdansk map and cross-platform play
Ever wanted to play Warzone on mobile? Well, you're in luck, because Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile will soon be coming to a small screen near you.
Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile is set to offer the Warzone experience we all know and love on Android and iOS mobile devices. And, the game will feature something that Warzone on Xbox, PlayStation and PC doesn't – the iconic battle royale map Verdansk set to be available at launch, with up to 120 players supported simultaneously.
Here's everything we know about Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile including release date, expected content, how to register and pre-order, and how crossplay and cross-progression will work in the upcoming mobile title.
Warzone Mobile: release date
Activision has confirmed the Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile release date is set for Spring 2024. Apple's App Store has the Warzone Mobile release date listed as April 30, 2024, but this is just a placeholder that can be changed at any time. Players found this out last year when Warzone Mobile release date changed in-app suddenly changed, sparking panic that the game had been delayed (which it eventually was).
With Spring set to begin on March 20, 2024, we'd expect Warzone Mobile to be released on March 22, 2024 at the earliest, as major Call of Duty releases normally launch on Fridays.
Samsung Galaxy S23 we got hands-on with the new Samsung S23 Ultra, 23+ and S23Activision CEO Bobby Kotick previously stated that the Warzone Mobile release date would fall in autumn 2023, as he took to the stand as part of the Microsoft Activision deal trial; but it was later revealed at the COD Next 2023 event that the release date had been pushed back.
Warzone Mobile: how to register and pre-order
Players with an iPhone or iPad running iOS 16 or newer can get in on Warzone Mobile pre-orders in the App Store right now. Curiously, this method asks for payment details despite the game being free-to-play – but you can bet your bottom dollar that there will be plenty of in-app purchases available.
Players with an Android device can pre-register for Warzone Mobile on the Google Play store, which simply sends a notification to your device when the game is available to download.
The iOS version of Warzone Mobile is stated as being 3.86GB in size, but the size of the Android version has yet to be confirmed.
Warzone Mobile: crossplay and cross-progression explained
Warzone Mobile will feature cross-progression between MW3 and Warzone, with all three titles having a shared battle pass that players can grind through using any of the three Call of Duty games. Players can also access social features across all three titles including friends and chat channels.
But Warzone Mobile will not have crossplay with players on Xbox, PlayStation and PC, as the game is standalone and not integrated with either Warzone or MW3, but it will feature crossplay between Android and iOS devices.
Warzone Mobile: expected content
Activision has confirmed via a blog post that Warzone Mobile will feature events, playlists and content that are unique to the mobile version of the game, with up to 120 players able to drop into Verdansk in its battle royale mode.
According to the official Warzone Mobile website, over 45million players have pre-registered or pre-ordered the title, with a counter showing that the game will feature the much-loved Resurgence map Rebirth Island if the 45million target is hit, so we can safely assume that players can expect that to be featured on the game either at launch or shortly after.
