Liverpool's five best-ever strikers according to AI as Salah and Suarez snubbed

Liverpool's success throughtout their history has been built around the stars who lead the line.

The Reds have been able to call upon a range of legendary figures to score their goals, with Mohamed Salah and Darwin Nunez the current players entrusted with the job. But while he has broken a number of records, Salah is not ranked among the club's five best strikers.

As well as Salah, another name shockingly snubbed is Luis Suarez, who fired the Reds on their Premier League title challenge in the 2013/2014 campaign. That is according to an AI program directed by Mirror Football to come up with a ranking of the top five forwards, which you can read below.

5. Michael Owen

Coming in at number five is Michael Owen, widely seen as one of the best strikers in Premier League history. His talent was clear right from the start of his career, as he scored on his top-flight debut to become Liverpool's youngest-ever scorer.

He twice won the Premier League Golden Boot, was named Premier League Player of the Season in 1998 and was crowned Sports Personality of the Year in the same year. Owen's greatest achievement came when he won the Ballon d'Or while at Liverpool in 2001.

Hailed as 'God' by Liverpool fans, Robbie Fowler remains the Reds' second-top scorer in the Premier League. The Englishman came through the club's academy and made a quick start, scoring his first hat-trick in only his fifth top-flight match.

During his second season, he scored three goals in a game against Arsenal in just four minutes and 33 seconds, which was a Premier League record. He scored more than 30 goals in each of his first three seasons, the only player to do so in England.

He won the FA Cup, two League Cups and the UEFA Cup with the Reds before departing for Leeds. Fowler would later return to Liverpool, though his second spell was not as successful, with the striker ending his Reds career with 183 goals in 369 games.

3. Roger Hunt

A legendary player, Roger Hunt remains Liverpool's record league scorer. Hunt spent 11 years at Anfield from 1958, winning two league titles and the FA Cup during his time at Anfield.

The Englishman won the first division's golden boot award during that second title win, scoring 29 goals in 37 games. In total, he scored 285 goals for the Reds in all competitions, with only Ian Rush surpassing that return.

As well as his success at club level, Hunt is also on the select list of players who have won the World Cup while also playing for the Reds. He played in all six games as England won the tournament in 1966, scoring three times.

2. Ian Rush

Ian Rush spent 15 years at Anfield across two spells, with the Welshman becoming Liverpool's all-time record goalscorer. He first joined the Reds from Chester in 1980 and he soon developed a reputation for being a brilliant goalscorer.

He left for Juventus in 1987, having scored 30 or more goals in all but two seasons in the first team since his arrival. He returned after just one season in Italy for a second spell, ending with a record of 346 goals in 660 games in all competitions.

1. Kenny Dalglish

Lovingly referred to as 'King Kenny' by Liverpool fans, Kenny Dalglish is widely regarded as the club's greatest-ever player. After joining in 1977, he would spend the next 13 years as a player at Anfield, with the Scot also acting as manager for the final five of those.

He won six league titles, four League Cups, three European Cups and the FA Cup during his time as a player. He retired in 1990, with a record of 172 goals in 515 games in all competitions for the Reds.
