Patrice Evra believes Jesse Lingard ’s ‘time is coming’ as the former Manchester United man continues his search for a new club.

The Red Devils academy graduate has not played all season after leaving Nottingham Forest at the end of his contract. He trained with former club West Ham but was not offered a deal, while a trial with Saudi side Al-Ettifaq came and went without a contract.

Lingard has been keeping fans updated on his training regime with a host of videos on social media. His latest offering has seen ex-United captain Evra offer him some advice. Commenting on one of Lingard’s posts, the former French defender wrote: “Your time coming soon brother keep working hard.”

Lingard, 30, was most recently with Forest but struggled for form at the City Ground. He scored just twice and notched two assists in 20 appearances for the Midlands outfit.

Speaking in the summer, he revealed that he was open to an array of moves in an effort to get his career back on track. “I'm considering all options,” he told Sky Sports.

“I've never ruled out any team or club out, so for me it's just picking the right team and it's got to be right for me. I just want to play football at the end of the day and that's all I want to do. Obviously the project has got to be well suited for me, the team's got to be moving in the right direction but just regular game-time – I'm still hungry.”

Lingard also revealed that he was also potentially interested in a move to Saudi Arabia ahead of failing to earn a contract with Steven Gerrard ’s Al-Ettifaq. He added: “Saudi Arabia are doing big things, and in the next couple of years or so, it will be one of the hotspots to go to. I'm not really surprised that the big names are moving out there.

“Like I say, they're doing big things and it's something I would consider as well – I've not ruled that out either. It's got to be right for me at the end of the day. I've got to go on my gut feeling but I'm still hungry and striving for success.”

Lingard is a product of the Man United academy and went on to make 232 appearances for the club. He scored 35 goals in his most prolific season in 2017/18 as he netted 13 times under Jose Mourinho.

He was expected to complete a permanent move to West Ham after an impressive loan spell at the London Stadium in 2021 but returned to Old Trafford before his eventual switch to Forest. Lingard has also made 32 appearances for England during his career and scored six goals. His last outing for the Three Lions came back in September 2021.
