Omid Scobie has compared Kate Middleton to a ‘Stepford wife’ as he discussed his new book about the Royal Family on This Morning.

The author, who shot to fame writing Harry and Meghan’s book Finding Freedom in 2020, has released another controversial book this week called Endgame, which is said to detail the current state of the Royal Family. Appearing on ITV ’s This Morning, he was asked by host Craig Doyle about his comments about Kate, Princess of Wales. Defending what he had written about her in the book, Omid claimed: “It said ‘Stepford wife-like’.”

Describing Kate as more detached than the Queen, he went on to explain: “I think that the whole section of the book, if you read it in detail talks about that she's never puts a step wrong, but also that the role does require that kind of stately detachment and, and it compared her to the Queen in a very favourable way, actually. But of course, if you compare that to say, everyday folk, there is a very reserved, almost Stepford-like approach to those kind of things.”

Host Craig then said a lot of the book “feels like a bit of a hatchet job against the Royal Family”. Asked about his relationship with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, Omid revealed: “I’m not their friend, I’ve never sat down with Meghan privately for interviews, I’ve never exchanged information with Meghan. I’m not in their private world in any way whatsoever.”

Omid’s appearance on This Morning was his first interview since his book, Endgame, was released earlier this week. It has caused controversy after copies of the Dutch translated version named two senior members of the royal family in relation to an alleged ‘racist’ incident about the colour about Harry’s oldest son Archie’s skin colour before he was born. The two names did not appear in the UK version.

He has denied he is responsible for translated passages in foreign publications and said he left the names out of his English manuscript for legal reasons. In a statement, he explained: “Having only written and edited the English version of Endgame, I can only comment on that manuscript, which does not name the two individuals who took part in the conversation. I’m happy to hear that the error in the translation of the Dutch edition is being fixed.”

The Mirror has chosen not to name the royal pair. Buckingham Palace is now understood to be “considering all options”, including legal action. One royal source said: “As with much of this book, which has ranged from wild conspiracy theories to total mistruths and slighted opinion, all is not what it seems. There is an understanding regarding translation of texts that may contain the odd error, a rather blinding one in this case, but whole paragraphs of mistruths? Surely it’s complete nonsense.”
