Travis Kelce's relationship with Taylor Swift branded "fake" by ex-UFC star

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce have been told by former UFC star Paige VanZant that their relationship is "fake".

Award-winning music artist Swift and NFL star Kelce have become the most talked-about couple in the world in recent months. The highly publicised relationship has even affected Kelce's American Football career, as sales of his jersey for the Kansas City Chiefs have soared since hooking up with with Swift.

VanZant isn't sold on the couple as she thinks their love story is nothing more than a publicity stunt. “I think that the Taylor Swift-Travis Kelce ‘love story,’ I believe it’s 100 percent fake,” VanZant said on A Kickass Love Story. “Come for me, ‘Swifties.’ I have UFC fans coming for me. I think I can handle the ‘Swifties.’ I believe it is 100 percent fake.

"It is publicity. It’s huge for the NFL because yes, the NFL is big. Taylor Swift is huge and now she’s getting an entirely different demographic to come watch the NFL. Think of the wives that are buying Travis Kelce jerseys now. It’s a huge publicity play on both fronts. It’s good for Taylor Swift, it’s good for the NFL, it’s good for Travis Kelce. There is so much strategic stuff that’s happening.”

Fans have since weighed in on VanZant's take as one user wrote: "She's a billionaire that tours the globe, he's a multi millionaire that has two championships in one of the world's biggest sports leagues. What do they possibly have to gain from this?" A second user agreed by replying: "If it’s fake, then why are there not more fake relationships in the NFL with celebrities? Why just those two?"

"I don’t know. This is a stretch. Seems like a ton of effort for Taylor, being a billionaire, she doesn’t need the publicity. She makes enough money with her career, I doubt anyone can pay her enough to be in a fake relationship with a football player," a third user added before a final comment read: "This is probably the worst take I’ve ever heard to be honest."

VanZant signed with bare-knuckle promotion BKFC in a multi-million dollar deal three years ago after leaving the UFC. Things didn't go her way for the promotion as she lost fights to Britain Hart and Rachael Ostovich. BKFC president David Feldman told Mirror Fighting earlier this year that he doubts VanZant will fight for the promotion again.
