Omid Scobie has left fans baffled after they uncovered his real age - following his claims he was years younger than he really is.

The royal author broke his cover on Thursday during an appearance on This Morning, a day after he insisted that he was not responsible for an error in his new book Endgame. The Dutch version of his controversial book was pulled from shelves earlier this week, after it named two individuals who were said to have expressed "concern" about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's son, Archie's skin tone before he was born.

Scobie insisted on This Morning it was an apparent “translation mistake”. Piers Morgan took aim at Scobie over his new book, branding him an "outright liar". However, the TalkTV host announced the names on his show, adding that he does not believe "any racist comments were ever made by any of the Royal Family"

Asked about the matter on Thursday, Omid told Craig Doyle and Alison Hammond : "I don't know what he says, I only go by the reporting what I have… he has spoken a lot about his friendship with Camilla, the Queen. So listen I don't know what to make of that. I only go by the information I have. He says a lot of things about me that's not true, don't find he’s credible."

Amid the ongoing row, many fans have been left baffled after finding out Scobie's real age. The biographer is believed to be 42-years-old and was found lying about his age previously after feeling "insecure". In a 2020 interview, Scobie claimed he was 32-years-old, however journalists discovered he was actually 38 at the time.

Scobie told the Evening Standard: "I work in an industry where I’m surrounded by people who are, let’s say, conservative with telling their age, particularly in television. You learn from those mistakes. I can't do much more than own it." He added that he had a "little insecurity" about turning 40 and thought "no one would ever know".

He has also insisted he hasn't had any plastic surgery to aid his youthful looks. However, he has admitted to trying Botox and undergoing Ultherapy, a non-surgical skin-tightening procedure. He told The Times: "[Lying about my age] was unfortunate and naive of me. I’ve not been under the knife, not done anything crazy."

Following his appearance on This Morning on Thursday, Piers Morgan blasted Scobie over his looks. Taking to X - formerly Twitter - he wrote: "Comical to watch lying Sussex lickspittle @scobie say he’s never written a draft of his book naming the 2 supposed royal ‘racists’. How else did the Dutch version get printed with those explosive details? He wouldn’t know the truth if it slapped him round his Botoxed chops."

The release of Scobie's book follows the Sussexes' bombshell 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey, where Prince Harry and Meghan Markle claimed a member of the Royal Family expressed “concern” over how dark their son Archie’s complexion would be. In the book, Mr Scobie claims that there were two royals who made derogatory remarks about Archie's skin colour.

This week, Scobie claimed in interviews that UK law prevented him from revealing the two Royals’ names, but a review copy of the book sent to Dutch journalists appears to plainly state the identity of the royals who allegedly made the remarks. When the Sussexes made their explosive allegations on Oprah, in an interview broadcast around the world, they set in train a public debate about who in the royal family might harbour such racially charged views.

In a multicultural modern Britain such allegations against the monarchy generated debate on a matter of such public importance with Scobie's new book claiming to add to that public debate. It's not yet known how the names ended up being included in the copy, whether it was a publication error or translation error, but Scobie has denied being responsible for the naming of the Royals. The Mirror has chosen not to publish the names.
