Man Utd permutations as Bayern Munich result opens up three European options
Manchester United will go into their final Champions League outing with all to play for after their draw in Turkey.
The Red Devils twice led by two goals, but could only leave Istanbul with a point after playing out a highly entertaining 3-3 draw with Galatasaray. A win would've put them in charge of their own destiny, but they are now reliant on others helping them out.
Bayern Munich will head to Old Trafford and provide a stern test for Erik ten Hag's side. The Germans drew against Copenhagen on Wedesday, but are already through as group winners. The Bavarians boast an incredible group stage record, having not been beaten in 39 games.
Their last group defeat came in 2017 as they were beaten by PSG, underlining the task that faces United. There are still a number of options available though and come the New Year the Red Devils could find themselves still in the Champions League, dropping into the Europa League or without European football all together.
Scenario 1 - Finish second, qualify for Champions League last 16
Their task is pretty simple - beat Bayern at Old Trafford. United lost 4-3 to the Germans in their opening game and will come up against Harry Kane, who has been on fire since his summer move. Should United pick up three points it would leave them on seven points after six games.

Scenario 2 - Finish third, drop into Europa League
Erik Ten Hag took his side to the last eight of the Europa League last season only to suffer defeat to Sevilla. And that competition could again be on the cards for United if there is a winner between Copenhagen or Galatasaray.

A draw for United would be enough for third depending on the manner of the result between Copenhagen and Galatasaray, with goal difference potentially coming into play.
Scenario 3 - Finish fourth, out of Europe
This would be an embarrassing scenario for United, but one that some might perhaps say they deserve given some of their displays. Their defensive showings have not been good enough and have put them in this do or die scenario to begin with. If United lose to Bayern in Manchester then that is it for Europe until next season.
