TV writer picks 10 of the best Christmas films on Amazon Prime Video
With 11 months down and just one to go, that can only mean one thing: Christmas. With that, it’s about time to be getting in the Christmas spirit, and what better way to do that than kicking back with a flurry of festive films.
Amazon’s Prime Video boasts a huge library of blockbusters and classics that are perfect for the season of goodwill. Amazon is also launching a handful of brand-new Christmassy treats, including a festive Eddie Murphy comedy and an all-new Batman animation.
All of this great content can be enjoyed for free with a subscription to Amazon Prime, which usually costs £8.99 a month. But thanks to Amazon’s 30-day free trial, members can stream it all throughout the festive season without paying a penny, as well as enjoying other great benefits like next day delivery and Amazon Music Prime.

A host of festive favourites are also available to rent on Prime Video. Film fans can stream modern classics like Elf, the Home Alone collection, National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation and Die Hard from as little as £3.49.

Candy Cane Lane
Eddie Murphy stars in this all-new comedy adventure about a man on a mission to win his neighbourhood’s annual Christmas home decoration contest. After Chris (Murphy) inadvertently makes a deal with a mischievous elf named Pepper (Jillian Bell) to better his chances of winning, she casts a magic spell that brings the 12 Days of Christmas to life and wreaks havoc on the whole town.
At the risk of ruining the festive season for his family, Chris, his wife Carol (Tracee Ellis Ross) and their three children must race against the clock to break Pepper’s spell, battle deviously magical characters and save Christmas for everyone.

Your Christmas Or Mine 2
Your Christmas or Mine 2 (Prime Video)Picking up after last year’s hit rom-com Your Christmas or Mine, this new festive sequel sees James (Asa Butterfield) and Hayley’s (Cora Kirk) Christmas plans go awry once again. James’ father has invited the Taylors to spend Christmas in a luxury ski resort in the Austrian Alps so they can meet his new American girlfriend.
However, Hayley’s dad insisted on handling his family’s side of the booking and something clearly got lost in translation. After a mix-up with transport at the airport, the two tribes end up at each other’s accommodations, on different sides of a valley and opposite ends of the Tripadvisor ratings scale.

Merry Little Batman
Merry Little Batman (Prime Video)In this new animated family action comedy from Amazon Studios and DC, young Damian Wayne (Yonas Kibreab) finds himself alone on Christmas Eve when Batman (Luke Wilson) is called away on urgent Justice League matters. He must transform into Little Batman to defend Wayne Manor and Gotham City from the crooks and supervillains intent on destroying Christmas.
