A royal expert has claimed Prince Harry was "jealous" of Prince William growing up and that the older of the two would use his status as heir to the throne to put his brother down.

Contained within Harry's tell-all memoir this month are brutal allegations about his brother.

The Duke of Sussex said William is his "arch nemesis" in the book 'Spare' due to be released on January 10.

Amid the shocking allegations William confronted Harry in a physical altercation and upset over a supposed lack of Easter presents, royal expert Ingrid Seward has claimed there was an extra edge to the royal feud.

The editor-in-chief of Majesty Magazine claims brotherly love also contained a "jealous edge" when the two princes were growing up and that William found it easy to put his younger sibling down.

Ingrid told The Sun: "As a young boy, Harry kind of hero-worshipped William, as younger brothers often do, but there was also a jealous edge.

"He was frustrated over not being Number One and William would regularly win arguments by saying, ‘I’m the oldest and I will be King.'"

Seward said the boys' relationship changed as they got older and William began to have reservations about following in his father's footsteps.

She pointed towards William's experience on his gap year, after which he came back and Harry said "I get on much better with him now. He’s changed a lot."

"It meant William could do what he wanted when they were younger," she added. "But as he got older the idea of being the future King intimidated him."

"Harry would say, ‘If you don’t want to be King then I will,’ which Diana found funny, but I believe there is an edge of truth to what he said."

Despite Harry's talk of a desire for reconciliation - he was seen in an ITV interview saying "I would like to have my brother back" - sources close to the Palace told the Mirror there would "never be a way back" after the release of Spare.

A former royal staffer, who knew William and Harry while working in the household, said Harry will "never be forgiven" for revealing intimate details of royal life, inducing conversations with his father the King and William.

The source said: "I believe he will never be forgiven. After everything he has said about privacy and intrusion, this is hard to comprehend. His words are so vicious and targeted.

"I don’t doubt he still loves his father and his brother but it’s impossible to see how he won’t come to bitterly regret his decision to do this."

Harry claims: "It all happened so fast. So very fast. He grabbed me by the collar, ripping my necklace, and he knocked me to the floor. I landed on the dog’s bowl, which cracked under my back, the pieces cutting into me.

"I lay there for a moment, dazed, then got to my feet and told him to get out."

The incident is supposed to have taken place went the two met at Hary's London home of Nottingham Cottage in 2019. William is said to have called Meghan "rude," "abrasive" and "difficult."
