Arsenal ended the weekend on top of the Premier League table after Kai Havertz's dramatic winner against Brentford on Saturday.

The Germany international scored an 89th-minute header to secure a 1-0 victory for the Gunners on the road. Arsenal are one point clear of Manchester City in second after Pep Guardiola's side dropped two points at home to Liverpool in Saturday's early kick-off.

Arsenal are back in Champions League action on Wednesday, as Lens travel to the Emirates. The Gunners will secure their spot in the last 16 of the tournament with a game to spare if they avoid defeat to the French side, who beat them 2-1 in the reverse fixture.

Here are the latest headlines from the Emirates ahead of Wednesday's game...

Edu's transfer target

Arsenal's sporting director Edu will try to sign Douglas Luiz in the January transfer window. The Brazilian midfielder, who is valued at €55milliom (£47.8m) by Transfermarkt, is one of Aston Villa's most important players, having scored five league goals this season.

The Gunners tried to sign Luiz in August 2022, but Villa refused to sell and persuaded the international to sign a new contract until June 2026. Despite being rebuffed, Arsenal are expected to launch a new bid for Luiz when the transfer window re-opens shortly.

Do you think Arsenal will win the Premier League title? Let us know in the comments below!

Rio Ferdinand believes Arsenal have a better chance of winning the Premier League title than Liverpool. The Manchester United icon thinks the defensive partnership of Gabriel Magalhaes and William Saliba could be the difference for Mikel Arteta's side.

"They have the best defensive record in the league at the moment and Declan Rice is perfect in front of them in the middle at the moment," said Ferdinand. "That little triangle is going to be key for them going forward and it's how they're going to be successful."

Ferdinand, who spoke to TNT Sports, added: "To win anything, you have to have a centre-back pairing that you can trust. They're the reason why I put them above Liverpool in the title race and they're why they can challenge City this year."

Havertz's Brentford reaction

Havertz was full of praise for Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard after their win against Brentford. He said: "It feels amazing (to score the winner). "We've been working hard for these moments and today I got it paid back and I'm just happy to repay the team with that.

"It was a brilliant goal and a brilliant pass as well. We've trained this routine quite a lot in training, so I know that Bukayo or Martin love to play that ball so it was a good goal."
