Man United will face a fierce atmosphere as they face Everton on Saturday afternoon, with Sean Dyche's side having been knocked down to the relegation zone following their recent points deduction.

Wide-scale protests are planned at Goodison Park following the ruling, which sees Everton handed the biggest ever points penalty in Premier League history. The penalty has been handed down following a ruling by an independent advisory panel which deemed Everton guilty of a Financial Fair Play rules breach.

The ruling means that Everton have been dragged back into a relegation battle, having won three of their last five matches, as they fall from 14th to 19th place. They are, however, just two points behind Luton Town in 17th and based on their recent form will be confident of avoiding the drop.

It is a situation which leaves Man United as somewhat of a sideshow in what is a huge match for Erik ten Hag's side; with four of the league's top five playing each other this weekend meaning United have the chance to cut their gap to the leading pack. United are one of the league's most in-form sides, with four wins in their last five having breathed life into a season which had previously looked to be coming off the rails.

Everton have been poor at home so far this season, losing four of their six matches at Goodison so far. United, meanwhile, have won their last three away matches as well as three of their last four at Everton, all of which suggests an away win for United, but emotion will have a big part to play in the end result either way.

Team news:

Everton will boosted by the presence of Amadou Onana, who returns to contention to provide depth to their midfield. They will, however, continue to be without long-term absentees Andre Gomes, Dele Alli and Seamus Coleman for the forseeable future.

United are dealing with the continued absences of Casemiro, Christian Eriksen and Lisandro Martinez, which means that a midfield axis of Sofyan Amrabat and Scott McTominay will likely be deployed. United will be boosted by likely returns to action for Luke Shaw and Andre Onana, but Rasmus Hojlund, Jonny Evans and Aaron Wan-Bissaka are all doubtful.
