All eyes will be on Goodison Park on Sunday afternoon when Everton host Manchester United in what's set to be an emotionally charged day.

Erik ten Hag knows his players will have to contend with a vociferous home crowd out to voice their displeasure at their club being deducted 10 points by the Premier League. And if that wasn't enough of a headache in itself, United will go into the game still missing several key players due to injury.

Those problems mounted during the international break, with Ten Hag admitting in Friday's press conference he would be making a last minute decision on the availability of certain players. But amid the gloom, there is welcome new for the Dutch boss as well.

Mirror Football has the lowdown on who is ruled out, and who is in contention to return....

Casemiro

The Brazilian midfielder picked up an ankle injury while on international duty early in November, but had seemingly recovered in time to face Newcastle in the Carabao Cup. His return proved ill-fated though, having to leave the field at half-time with a hamstring injury, and the 31-year-old is not expected to be back in a red shirt until mid-January.

Lisandro Martinez

It was early in the season when the Argentina World Cup winner suffered from a recurrence of the metatarsal injury that curtailed his 2022/23 campaign prematurely - and his presence at the back has been missed. But like with his South American teammate, Ten Hag has already ruled out a return prior to 2024, with playing again in January the target.

HAVE YOUR SAY! Will United beat Everton on Sunday? Comment below.

Jonny Evans

The thigh injury Evans picked up during the Champions League loss in Copenhagen isn't set to rule him out long-term, but it will see him miss a frantic period. Unavailable for the Everton trip, Evans is unlikely to play at Galatasaray three days later or at Newcastle next weekend. Best case scenario is he's back available for the home match with Chelsea on December 6.

Christian Eriksen

The midfielder limped off with a knee injury during United's 1-0 win over Luton before the international break, meaning he never joined up with the Denmark squad. He won't be part of the United one for the next few games either, with Ten Hag previously confirming the issue was not a simple one, and he's not expected back until the clash with Bournemouth on December 9.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka

One of the more straightforward problems for Ten Hag to assess. The right-back is currently struggling with illness, and is currently 50/50 to be available for Sunday's trip to Merseyside.

Rasmus Hojlund

Similarly to his compatriot, left the field against Luton with a thigh knock, but is fighting to be fit for Everton. In his pre-match press conference on Friday, Ten Hag admitted it could be an 11th hour decision, saying: "He's training, he finished outside, making very good steps and we have to wait until tomorrow and we will make a final decision."

Tyrell Malacia

Yet to play this season following a knee injury, the 24-year-old hasn't returned to full training in time for Sunday. He's not however, expected to be much longer, with the left back due to be back during December.

Andre Onana

The Cameroon keeper would have unnerved his boss when he picked up an adductor knock on international duty, but he's quickly healed. Ten Hag said on Friday: "Andre is ok. He stepped in during training today, so he is good."

Luke Shaw

The news that Manchester United fans have been waiting for. After being sidelined since August with a muscle injury, the England international returned to full training this week and Ten Hag has confirmed he's available for the clash with the Toffees.

Amad

Given the exile of Jadon Sancho and the poor form of Antony, the knee injury that the 21-year-old picked up in pre-season was cruelly timed. He's taken to Instagram of late to prove that he his stepping up his rehab, but as it stands, no date has been set for a return and fans will be fortunate if he's gracing Old Trafford this side of Christmas.

Mason Mount

Mason Mount's Manchester United nightmare continues. In the build-up to Sunday's trip to Everton, he's picked up a calf injury that is likely to rule the the midfielder out for up to a month.

Facundo Pellistri

After picking up an ankle knock in Uruguay's 3-0 win over Bolivia this week, the youngster is now a major doubt for the trip to Goodison Park. Another selection that may go down to the wire, the confirmed absences of Eriksen and Casemiro may tempt Ten Hag to take a risk on the winger.
