Vic Reeves' real name leaves This Morning fans gobsmacked after career change
This Morning viewers were in shock today when Vic Reeves revealed his real name as he opened up about his new career.
The comedian, 64, best-known for his stellar turn on Shooting Stars in the nineties alongside Bob Mortimer, has always been known as Vic Reeves. However, when he popped up on This Morning today alongside wife, Nancy Sorrell, the father-of-four introduced himself as Jim Moir.
Speaking to hosts Alison Hammond and Rylan Clark, Vic - or rather, Jim -, shared the couple's love of art and birdwatching, which is reflected in the new series of Painting Birds With Jim And Nancy Moir. However, fans were more interested in the comic's real name, with many taking to X in shock.
One remarked: “JIM??? I thought his name was Vic.” Another mused: “Is this Vic Reeves pretending to be a birdwatcher and married to Nancy.” While another joked: “90's me watching Vic Reeves Big Night Out. 2023 me watching Vic AKA Jim and his missus talking about being birdwatchers. What a time to be alive.”
Jim, who chose his stage name from his two of favourite singers, Vic Damone and Jim Reeves, at the start of his career, will always be associated with his former sidekick, Bob. However, despite the star revealing he's asked "all the time" if the pair will reunite, he admitted the chances are unlikely.

Speaking to the Radio Times, he said: "We’ve had offers from everywhere. But I’m not doing any more. I’ve given up. I’ve done that. We never really speak much. Bob and I have never been ones for talking on the phone. We’ll see him now and then and have a chat about things. It’s not a conscious thing, we haven’t discussed it.”

Speaking to the Mirror back in April when the series launched, Nancy said: “When I first met Jim, all he did was birdwatching, so it wasn’t long before I got involved, too.”
Jim proposed to Nancy in 2003, two years after they met. But the couple are now more likely to be found in the reedbeds of Dungeness, Kent, near their home in the village of Charing.
Jim is also a prolific artist, producing “thousands” of pictures a year, which he sells online. “I paint every day,” he said. “I wake at six, lie in bed thinking about what my next picture will be, then I go to my studio [a state-of-the-art shed in the garden] and stay there until about 12.”
He paints shoes, including a lovely watercolour of Paul Weller’s penny loafers, and portraits of celebrity ghosts. But mainly birds – 100 of which are included in his book called, simply, Birds.
