It has been claimed that Meghan Markle attended to Princess Diana 's grave, where she sat by her plaque and asked her for guidance.

Prince Harry has revealed in his bombshell memoir Spare that his then-girlfriend kneeled next to his mother's grave and asked for her guidance when they visited in 2017.

He recalled seeing her placed next to his mother as she had her "palms flat against the stone".

In an extract of the unfiltered book, which is set to be released on January 10, the Duke of Sussex tracks life following the tragic death of his mother, Princess Diana.

There, he include stories about his upbringing and experience serving in the military, and details his marriage to Meghan Markle, the discrimination they endured, and their choice to leave the royal family in 2020.

In one of the 416 pages, Harry recalls the first time Meghan visited Diana's final resting place on the Althorp estate, West Northamptonshire.

The pair took to visit the grounds in August 2017, where it is reported that the couple had been together for roughly a year.

Harry went on to describe how the couple rowed out to the island where his mum is buried, on the 20th anniversary of her death, where he recalled Meghan with her "palms flat against the stone".

After taking time by himself to reflect and pay tribute to Princess Diana, he recalled sensing that his girlfriend at the time also wanted a private moment.

He said: "When I returned, she was on her knees with her eyes closed and her palms flat against the stone."

The Duke added that Meghan had told him that she asked Diana for "clarity and guidance" during her moment alone.

The late Princess was laid to rest at her childhood home of Althorp House, Northamptonshire, in 1997.

In 2017, the year which marked 20 years since Diana's death, several events took place to commemorate the date, including Elton John leading the homages.

Prince Harry's tell-all memoir, was leaked on Thursday after it was accidentally released in Spain, has made unforgettable claims about the Royal Family.

He has also been interviewed by Anderson Cooper on 60 Minutes, which set to air on Sunday.

In a clip that was released prior to the show, Prince Harry opened up about how he was “incredibly naïve” about the British press before he met his wife, Meghan Markle, and that he didn’t expect the media to treat her the way it did.

He said that Meghan’s experiences of joining the Royal Family as an outsider mirrored Queen Consort Camilla and Princess Kate’s experiences, however the racial element made the circumstances very different.
