I'm A Celeb star Sam Thompson's odd comment after Jamie Lynn Spears' breakdown
Sam Thompson made an unusual attempt to comfort campmate Jamie Lynn Spears during Tuesday night's episode of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!
The American actress was feeling homesick and missing her children back in the States and, in an odd twist, Made in Chelsea's Sam tried to empathise with Jamie. Attempting to calm the situation, Sam said: "I get it man, I've got two cats at home - Albus and Cedric - little fluffy men. Know what I mean? So I get it. Not kids, but I get it."
Jamie Lynn and EastEnders star Danielle Harold, who was also comforting Jamie, found Sam's comment amusing. Danielle encouraged Sam to "let it out".
Earlier, Jamie Lynn had admitted to feeling emotionally vulnerable. Danielle reassured her, saying: "You're so strong. This is tough babe, tough. So tough. It's not easy." Sam added: "It's important to remember you've come from a whole different continent, you don't know anyone here, it's hard. It's real hard."
Danielle continued to console Jamie Lynn by reminding her of the challenges she's faced in her life, minimising their current predicament in the jungle. Jamie Lynn responded: "But at least all that s*** I could go home to my babies every night, you know? That's it, that's all I need in life. It feels a little bit overwhelming. They're not even close. I've got to just do it. I don't know why I'm being such a baby."
Corrie's Sue Cleaver says I'm A Celebrity stint helped her to push boundariesBut while Jamie Lynn became emotional, viewers were distracted by Sam's comments about his cats. One user wrote: "Sam is killing me. Jamie Lynn crying about her kids and you're gonna say, 'I understand, I've got two cats."
Another said: "Well done to Sam for not crying. He has cats and he's holding it together." While a third said they were "still laughing" about it. Even Sam's girlfriend Zara McDermott was in hysterics at her beau as she filmed the conversation and wrote: "I can't [laughing emojis]. Albus seems quite ungrateful for his airtime on ITV tbh?"
I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! continues tonight at 9pm on ITV1 and ITVX
