A repulsed mum has vowed to never eat McDonald's again after finding what she believes was a maggot in her hash brown.

Rachel Rackley, 39, and her two children each tucked into the sausage and egg McMuffin breakfasts on Sunday after collecting them at their usual McDonald's.

But after one bite, Rachel spotted what she thinks was a creepy-crawly in a hash brown. It repulsed the mortgage consultant and, fearing she may have already eaten a bug, she left her meal. Her children, though, had finished their breakfasts by the time Rachel had even started hers.

Speaking exclusively to the Mirror today, Rachel said: "I've taken a bite and then looked down to see this orange-like maggot stuck to the batter, or the outside of the hash brown. It was absolutely revolting. God knows if I'd already eaten one at this point.

"It is absolutely disgusting. It's put me right off McDonald's to be honest. At the moment, I won't be going to McDonald's ever again, to any branch."

The mother picked up the breakfasts from a McDonald's at Wessex Gate Retail Park near Poole, Dorset, on Sunday morning during a journey to the coastal town. They stopped at a car park near Sandbanks to eat and so, upon her grim find, Rachel decided to call the restaurant. She was told to email, to which she says she is yet to receive a reply.

The mum, who lives in Shaftesbury, Dorset with husband 34-year-old Jack, who is a construction site boss, and their two kids, continued: "The fact that no one's even acknowledged the fact that I've had a maggot in my hash brown I think is atrocious. I haven't had an apology. The customer service is absolutely shocking.

"My children could have eaten a maggot because they finished their hash browns before I even started mine. I left my hash browns for the end but the kids did eat in their hash browns first so who knows? They could have already eaten one (a foreign object)."

The couple have also shared their anger on social media. Dad-of-two Jack wrote on Facebook: McDonald's, do deep-fried maggots come as standard in your hash browns these days?!"

The Mirror has approached McDonald's for comment about the foreign item in the hash brown and the customer service.
