Strictly Come Dancing star Rhys Stephenson has announced his engagement in a sweet post on social media.

The television presenter, 30, got down on one knee while he was on holiday in the Cayman Islands with his now-fiancée Beth Johnson. He took to his Instagram page to share the sweet snap of them celebrating and announced the happy news. The couple beamed with joy as she showed off the ring on her finger.

He captioned the post: "She said yes! #caymanislands #engagement." His fellow Strictly Come Dancing pals rushed to the comment section to congratulate him on the happy news. Neil Jones, Rose Ayling-Ellis, and Tess Daly were among the famous faces sharing their happiness for him.

Oti Mabuse wrote: "AAAAAAAAAHHHHH CONGRATULATIONS, WE LOVE TO SEE IT," along with several heart emojis while Janette Manrara added: "Amazing news!!!!"

Rhys, who was paired with professional dancer Nancy Xu on Strictly in 2021, has shared snaps of himself and his girlfriend over the years but has kept their relationship away from the limelight. However, while taking part in the BBC One dance competition, her name was mentioned during a shoutout.

After presenter Rhys and Nancy performed a sexy Argentine Tango to Phil Collins' hit song In The Air Tonight, Strictly Come Dancing host Claudia Winkleman made sure to ask: "What did your girlfriend Beth say when you told her you were doing the Argentine Tango?"

He responded: "Beth said 'If I’m not jealous, you’re not doing it right.' So, Beth I hope you’re both proud and jealous." Unfortunately, Rhys and Nancy missed out on the Glitterball Trophy when they were voted off during the semi-final stage. The duo found themselves in the bottom two and performed against John Whaite and his partner Johannes Radebe to try to stay in the competition.

Rhys and Nancy had a great friendship as Nancy burst out in tears during It Takes Two when she discussed being partnered up with the presenter. Rylan told the dancer how happy he was that she had a partner on the show and she said: "Teaching Rhys has been the most magical moment for me in this Strictly journey.

"Yes, we didn’t make it to the final but we had everyone’s support behind us. They gave us their heart, supporting us in so many ways. I’m so grateful for everything. For Strictly to give me this chance and to give me this wonderful person to learn from me… I also learnt some much from him."

When asked about he felt since their elimination, Rhys said: "I feel good. I feel really proud of what we did and excited because... it was the semi finals! That semi final was intense, it was so good. That could have been the All Stars of Strictly so to be a part of that line up was incredible."
