Linda Nolan's selfless sacrifice as she remains positive amid incurable cancer

Linda Nolan has revealed that she keeps positive amid her cancer battle for the sake of her mental health and the loved ones around her.

The Nolan Sisters singer, 64, was first diagnosed with cancer nearly 20 years ago. The Daily Mirror columnist has had incurable secondary breast cancer since 2017 which has since spread to the brain and caused her to experience hair loss for the fourth time in her life.

Lifting the lid on how she remains positive amid her sickness, Linda explained that it's a choice for her - she can either choose to be positive about life despite the tough hand that life has dealt her, or she could wallow in self pity and anger. For Linda, she has learned how to remain positive and be grateful for the privileges and blessings she still has in her life.

Speaking to Bella UK, Linda revealed: "I think you have to be positive. Otherwise, you drag yourself down as well as other people. When I think of getting up, I think a new morning in a new day is so special and to be able to make memories. It's not a new day closer to not being here so that's what I try and do."

During an interview with the Daily Mirror in July, Linda admitted it's hard to be positive at times but added: "I wake up every morning and I think this is another day to celebrate rather than to think I’m getting closer to not being here. That helps me." She continues to disclose that she stops herself from asking about prognosis.

"Alone sometimes in my bedroom I’ll just lie there and think I wonder if I’ll be here in a month? Will it all happen very quickly?” she confided when speaking candidly about her health. Doctors have told the brave star everyone responds to treatment differently, and so she holds onto short term milestones."

It comes after Linda recently opened up about getting older amid her cancer battle. Writing in her column in The Mirror, Linda, 64, wrote: "The fear never leaves you when you’ve had cancer, and a birthday means more than ever. Getting old? We all want to. Every birthday is a bonus.

"My own birthday is in February and I’m beginning to think I’ll see it. Young Linda might have dreaded 65, but nothing would seem more ridiculous now. I long to get old. Obviously, the presents will be good too, as “it could be my last”. It’s a line I’ve trotted out for a while now," she added.
