Messi, Haaland, Mbappe and the top 100 players in Football Manager 2024
Kevin De Bruyne is the best footballer in the world for the second successive year, according to Football Manager 2024.
The Manchester City star claims top spot for the second year in a row, the Belgian having also been No.1 in FM23. Indeed, Erling Haaland has jumped from sixth spot last year to second this - on the back of a record-breaking debut season at the Etihad - to make it a City one-two at the top.
Paris Saint-Germain superstar Kylian Mbappe, Lionel Messi and England captain Harry Kane make up the remainder of the top five, while Liverpool's Mohamed Salah makes the top 10 in tenth spot.
Interestingly, there are 10 Premier League stars in the top 20 - one from Arsenal, three from Liverpool and six from City. La Liga has five representatives in the top 20, with the others being Mbappe, Messi, Kane, his Bayern Munich team-mate Joshua Kimmich and Neymar.

Current Ability is an attribute used in Football Manager games to judge how good a player is, with each player in the game's database given a rating out of 200 for both Current Ability (CA) and Potential Ability (PA). Potential Ability is a rating given to judge how good players could become, but we've just used CA to assemble a list of the top 100 players in Football Manager 2024.

De Bruyne takes the top spot in FM24 once again, with the Manchester City midfielder's CA 190/200, an improvement on his CA in FM23. The Belgian's teammate Erling Haaland has jumped from sixth to second in FM24, while Kylian Mbappe, Lionel Messi and Harry Kane make up the remainder of the top five.

Bayern Munich's Thomas Muller had the biggest drop-off in FM24, with the German dropping out of the top 100 from 25th to 110th.
Cristiano Ronaldo improved and jumped from 100th to 78th, while Karim Benzema had a heavy fall, dropping from 4th to 27th.
Football Manager 2024 is the newest instalment of Sports Interactive's football management simulation game series, with the newest Football Manager title now available on PC, Mac, Xbox Series X|S, PS5, Mobile devices (through Netflix Games) and Nintendo Switch. FM24 includes a host of new upgrades and features that weren't in FM23, including truer motion football, improved set pieces, transfer battles, player milestones and much more.
