I'm A Celebrity's Ant and Dec mock Jamie Lynn Spears over awkward blunder
Ant and Dec kicked off I'm A Celebrity with a dig at campmate Jamie Lynn Spears following her awkward blunder.
The actress and singer, who is best known as the sister of pop superstar Britney Spears, is among the ten celebs who have jetted Down Under to take on the challenging TV show. She is in the camp alongside the likes of EastEnders ' Danielle Harold, Made in Chelsea's Sam Thompson and First Dates star Fred Sirieix.
At the start of Monday night's episode, Anthony McPartlin and Declan Donnelly returned live from the Australian jungle. During their opening line, the presenting duo make a cheeky dig at the Zoey 101 star as it appears she doesn't know who her campmates are. Dec quipped: "Jamie Lynn still thinks Grace Dent has been in Hollyoaks for 28 years, Josie Gibson was responsible for Brexit and that Nigel Farage was in JLS."
Ant added: "Oh poor old Bryan Spears' sister, she will get there in the end. She will." Viewers have already noticed Jamie Lynn, 32, appeared to somewhat detached during the first episode, with reports the actress is "miserable" in camp. When it was announced the mum-of-two had signed up for the show, viewers were excited Jamie Lynn would share some gossip about her famous sibling.
However, it appears being referred to as "Britney's sister" by her fellow celebrities may be starting to get to her. It is feared the actress - who made no reference to Britney when introducing herself to viewers or while in conversation with Josie Gibson, who was probing the singer about her "musical family" - could quit the show after appearing to struggling with jungle life. On Sunday, the Nickelodeon star jumped from a plane alongside Marvin Humes and Nick before going on to complete challenge Temple of Doom.
TOWIE's Chloe Brockett makes cheeky dig at Saffron Lempriere during filmingOn Saturday, she was believed to have isolated herself in camp and stayed in bed, with producers worried she could be a "flight risk". "Away from the cameras and scenes that aired on TV, it’s her behaviour in camp that has become obvious to crew," a source toldThe Sun. "She has kept herself somewhat separate, not really socialising — and stayed in bed."
While it has also become clear to viewers Jamie Lynn hasn't got a clue who her fellow campmates are. One viewer said: "Could Jamie Lynn look anymore disinterested in any of the campmates she's literally like, mm yeah whatever." Another added: "Poor Josie, talking to Jamie Lynn and she had no idea who the other campmates were. She referred to Nigel as Grace and then called someone else to Josie’s face."
Someone else wrote: "omg I’m howling at Jamie-Lynn Spears not having a clue who everyone is." Jamie Lynn asked This Morning star Josie, 38, what she does to which Josie said: "I’m a TV presenter" with Jamie Lynn replying: "That's awesome!" Josie added: "I work on this show called This Morning. It’s so fun, it’s so good."
When Josie explained her career, viewers spotted Jamie Lynn yawning and claimed it was "rude". Taking to Twitter, now X, one person said: "Josie trying her hardest to chat to Jamie Lynn and her giving her absolutely nothing but a yawn back a bit rude #ImACeleb #ImACelebrity", a different account put: "Jamie yawning whilst Josie is speaking.. she’s RUDE #ImACeleb", another fan said: "Jamie-Lynn yawning in Queen Josie’s face???? RUDE#ImACeleb" while a different account added: "Nah how rude is Jamie Lynn yawning in Josie’s face when she’s speaking about her life #ImACeleb!"
It comes as Jamie Lynn has already proved to be a bit of a headache for I'm A Celebrity bosses after refusing to take part in media chats prior to entering the jungle. A TV source told the Mirror: "It is disappointing Jamie Lynn wouldn't speak to journalists out in Australia. She kept her head down at Brisbane airport which is fair enough after a long flight, but it is highly unusual to not take part in the media chats whilst waiting to go into camp this week.
"In fact, it is almost unprecedented and even Boy George took part last year when he has rarely done interviews for a decade. The last contestant we can remember to refuse to do the pre show interviews was David Gest, and that was back in 2006. It is not a great sign if you are hoping Jamie Lynn is going to be hugely talkative on the show and give up lots of goss about Britney. Hopefully she finds her voice in camp."
