Danny Cipriani's wife Victoria claims he announced their split 'without notice'
Danny Cipriani’s wife Victoria Rose has claimed he publicly announced their split without telling her first.
The former rugby player confirmed the split on Instagram last week, telling his followers: "Whilst we've had some wonderful times together, we've also recognised we're on different journeys and whilst this is sad news, it's also a new chapter for us both to pursue our own happiness. I only wish the best for Victoria and her children."
But Victoria has since claimed she was blindsided by the public announcement saying she was made aware “at the same time as the public” in a now-deleted social media post. She wrote: “Danny publicly announced our split without any prior notice or discussion with me. I was made aware of the situation at the same time as the public, and this has caused me a great deal of pain. I apologise if my reactions and responses have seemed reactive or emotionally charged.”
Danny announced he had split from wife Victoria last week (Instagram)The 42-year-old went on to say: “The truth is I am still going through a difficult time and it is challenging to see Danny speaking about our separation publicly while I have not yet found the strength to process it, adjust or heal. I really don’t want to be caught up in the fanfare. Sorry for any hurt I have caused.”
Danny also took to his Stories on Sunday to break his silence on the shock separation, after reportedly pulling out of at the last minute. After being spotted staying at a model’s house after the split, he clarified it was just a friend and nothing romantic.

He wrote: "After stories being brought to my attention, I'd like to clarify, I have broken up with Victoria for the only reason being we are not right for each other.” The 36-year-old then went on reveal he is staying with the "most beautiful couple", Grayson and Isa, with whom he shares "genuine love and connection." "I am forever grateful," he said. "In challenging times, good friends are a blessing."
Danny, who has previously dated Kelly Brook, Kirsty Gallacher and the late TV presenter Caroline Flack, tied the knot with Victoria in April 2021 in a lowkey ceremony attended by close family and friends, a little less than a year after he had proposed following three months of dating.
The fullback shared the exciting news on Instagram, gushing: "You make me the happiest man in the world. I love waking up with you every morning, not knowing which one of our personalities is going to arise, and how we fall in love with each other over and over again. You make every day so much better, I can’t wait to get home from training every day to see you. I can’t imagine life without you. You make me want to be the best man I possibly can for you and our family.."
The athlete revealed in his memoir that he and Victoria, who works as a mental health campaigner, lost a baby son called River at 24 weeks. Victoria is a mum to two children, having welcomed her first child Jade when she was 14.
