Jimmy Bullard admits he got carried away

Former footballer Jimmy Bullard has been barred from one of his favourite golf courses.

The ex-Fulham star, 45, upset members at upmarket Sunningdale Golf Club by using a beer bottle as a makeshift tee at the first hole. He said: “I’m not allowed to go again. I had a few drinks and I got carried away. I put a Peroni off the first tee and clipped a ball off it. It’s obviously not the thing to do, so I apologise.”

After a top football career that saw him called up for England and also play for Hull and Wigan, a knee injury forced Bullard to retire. He became a golf pro in 2013 and now co-presents an online golf show with fellow ex-Soccer AM star Pete “Tubes” Dale.

Sunningdale Golf Club, in Berkshire, has hosted the British Masters, Walker Cup, Women’s British Open and the Senior Open Championship. Full membership costs £92,000, then £9,500 a year.

Bullard, who was on I’m a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! in 2014, revealed his course ban on snooker champ and Sunningdale member Stephen Hendry’s YouTube channel, Cue Tips. He said: “If there are any Sunningdale members watching, I do apologise. I really want to come back.”
