Presenters Phil Spencer and Kirstie Allsopp have worked together on television for over two decades, and the pair appear to be so close with each other that they've sparked dating rumours many times. Fuelling speculation that there's a spark between the pair, property expert Phil, 53, has even jokingly dubbed Kirstie, 52, his 'other wife'.

Over the years, the pair who host Channel 4's Love It or List It, have addressed their relationship in numerous interviews. Back in 2007, Kirstie admitted she knew Phil better than her own partner, property developer Ben Anderson. Kirstie and Ben have been together since 2004 and have two sons together, as well as two kids from his previous marriage.

"I still know Phil better than I know Ben because Phil and I have spent more time together. We'll never be apart. I can't imagine a day when he and I go more than a month without seeing each other," Kirstie said at the time. She also addressed claims her and Phil had kissed and made a bold admission about her feelings for her costar. "I love Phil but I'm not attracted to him and I know he'd say the same about me," she told the Express. "A lot of people think we've had the odd sneaky snog, which just isn't true."

In 2015, the presenting duo got tongues wagging when they were spotted leaving a hotel bedroom together. Phil was seen coming out with Kirstie while carrying her bag - but there was actually a rather funny explanation for the awkward situation. "I was downstairs in reception, and Kirstie rang," he told Radio Times. "She said, 'Darling, I've locked myself out of my room,' so I go up with a new card, let her in and wait while she packs and brushes her teeth. Then we walk out, I'm wheeling her suitcase, people notice."

Then in a revealing interview on This Morning in 2016, Kirstie stated that Phil is "a really, really nice person" and explained their dynamic is too much like brother and sister to ever get involved romantically. "We have the same things at heart but we are very different personalities," she added. "It sounds awful but he is no more my type than I am his type." On the constant speculation, Kirstie said: "It doesn't frustrate me, it just amazes me!"

Phil has been married to his wife Fiona Spencer since 2001 and they have two sons together, Jake, 16, and Ben, 13. Phil has explained that Fiona is completely comfortable with their friendship and there is nothing but a "natural, platonic relationship" between them. Last year, the 53-year-old explained his 'closeness' to Kirstie and stated the pair always "enjoy each other's company".

He told the Express: "Yeah, we are really close friends...We're very close. And to be honest, we wouldn't still be doing it if we weren't. It's fun. We enjoy each other's company." Phil added: "We enjoy working together. We're better together than we are apart. We prefer working together than we are when we do apart. We have our solo projects, and that's important as well, but it's always nice to get back together and do stuff together."

  • Love It or List It with Kirstie Allsopp and Phil Spencer airs tonight at 5.30pm.
