Big Brother fans puzzled as Trish 'erased from show' after tweet scandal
Big Brother 2023 viewers admitted it was "awkward" as they noticed housemate Trish had been "edited out" of some of the show's highlights.
Viewers tuning into the live final on Friday night watched as Trish, who was said to have been banned from the live final over a tweet scandal, was barely mentioned or shown. Trish was not there with the other ex-housemates as the five finalists waited to see who had won.
Two housemates praised Trish in their exit interviews, but fans suggested hosts AJ Odudu and Will Best were quick to move on with the conversation, with awkward silences from the audience whenever Trish was mentioned. Not only that, but fans were also quick to discuss the fact Trish did not appear in the best bit montages of the evicted housemates, only a few times.
It follows the discovery of historic offensive tweets made by the housemate which emerged after she was evicted from the show a week ago. Trish released a statement to apologise for her past social media posts and it has since been claimed her invitation to the finale was "revoked".
Taking to X, formerly Twitter, on Friday night, viewers quickly admitted to feeling "awkward" with many "disgusted" as they noticed Trish being "edited out" of the show. One fan said: " ITV have really done Trish dirty! Not showing her in any of the VTs! Like cmon she was Yinruns best mate!"
TOWIE's Chloe Brockett makes cheeky dig at Saffron Lempriere during filmingAnother agreed: "Nahhh they erased Trish from Yinrun’s best bits, LAWD!" as a third said: "Lol itv cut out the best bits with yinrun and Trish. F u." The comments kept coming, with one reading: "They can try and erase Trish but her name keeps coming up!!!"
Another viewer said: "The way they edited Trish out of Yinrun’s best bits, I’m actually disgusted." It was reported earlier that Trish would feature in VTs and clips in the episode, while she would not appear at the finale.
The Sun reports that she had her invitation to join the finale celebrations revoked. A source told the publication: "Trish was keen to attend but production decided it was best if she didn't come and told her she was no longer invited. They didn't want to look like they were endorsing Trish's opinions, even though she has apologised for them, and they felt it was a distraction from the final.
"Trish was disappointed but she respects the show's wishes and will be there in spirit." The source went on to claim Trish would appear via "VT packages and will still very much be a part of the show" and that producers are not going to try to pretend that she was never part of the show.
Trish recently spoke out after historic offensive tweets posted on her Twitter account resurfaced. The tweets have since been deleted, but not before they sparked outrage with viewers who were left disappointed by what they had seen.
She said on X: "I'm aware that some very concerning old tweets of mine have re-surfaced, and I would like to sincerely apologise for the harmful stereotypes I perpetuated and the pain I have caused to the marginalised communities and groups of people mentioned.
"There are no excuses for the ignorance that I showed and I am deeply disappointed, embarrassed and ashamed that I once made such comments. I have come a very long way since by educating myself and being educated by others on the impact and harm those views cause."
She added: "It is part of the reason why I am so passionate about standing up for others and holding myself to a high standard of responsibility and accountability for my actions. I appreciate the support you've all given me on the show and I understand you feel disappointed. I know apologises can seem convenient but I mean it from the bottom of my hear: I am truly sorry.
"I hope it is possible for you to offer me grace and believe people can change. I am committed to being the person I am now, the person you have known my as – someone who speaks up, stands for what they believe in and always open to growth and accountability. Love Trish."
