New Disney Plus film starring Ludacris 'everything a Christmas movie should be'
You better watch out, you better not cry, you better not pout, we're telling you why ... a new Santa Claus movie is on Disney Plus - and it's actually rather good.
Disney original Dashing Through the Snow is a funny and touching story about a fed-up social worker Eddie Garrick who embarks on a Christmas Eve journey to remember with his estranged daughter. Rapper Ludacris stars as the embittered crisis counsellor who truly despises the festive season after seeing his parents get divorced at Christmas - and the fact a man dressed as Santa once tried to rob their house.
Now all grown up, Eddie finds that history has repeated itself with him separating from his wife Allison (played by Marvel star Teyonah Parriss). This is all much to the dismay of their daughter Charlotte (Madison Skye Validum) who does her best to keep them together - whatever the cost.
Poor Eddie is often too busy working to spend time with Charlotte, but he does have some time off at Christmas, so the pair settle down (much to Grinch Eddie's dismay) to watch a festive flick. Suddenly a man purporting to be Santa (Lil Rel Howery) tumbles down the chimney and rather ruins the moment. In a fantastically unlikely turn of events - which we won't spoil here - the two then team up to solve an intriguing tale of political corruption. Yes, really!
Fletchers Peters, of The Daily Beast, was very taken with Dashing Through The Snow. She wrote: "(this is) everything a Christmas movie should be: short, chipper, red, and green. Ludacris and Howery put an exciting spin on the cliché grumpy-to-gleeful arc, and the film even gives Santa a new career in fighting white collar crimes. The holiday romp may be remembered as nothing more than “the Ludacris Christmas movie,” but that’s exactly what it set out to be in the first place."

Kevin Fenix, of The Illuminerdi, was equally enamoured, posting: "Dashing Through the Snow is a delightful addition to the holiday movie landscape. With its blend of humour, heartfelt performances, and a dash of Christmas magic, it captures the essence of what makes the holiday season so special. It may not redefine the Christmas movie genre, but it succeeds in delivering a joyful, entertaining experience that families can enjoy together."
Released only this week, many commented on the trailer about how much they were looking forward to seeing the film this Christmas.
