The dark green version of the New Look skirt that's now £20 for Black Friday

You know that TikTok audio where it says ‘If I like it, I’ll just grab it in another colour?’ That’s very much my approach to my wardrobe. And over the past few months I’ve accidentally created an - and I’m mad about it. Let me explain.

I’ve picked up four of these in recent months and I adore them. They’re affordable, they go with everything, they’re super-flattering, I have basically lived in them ever since without giving my jeans a second glance.

But New Look has only gone and - in every colour. With the amount of money I could have saved by holding out for the major shopping event, I could have bought a whole extra skirt!

Usually and earlier this year, we hailed it the ranking higher than similar styles at River Island, H&M, Primark and M&S.

Sharing the news on social media, New Look said: “ALL colours of our in our Black Friday warm-up – you’re welcome!”

Now I don’t begrudge paying the higher price at all, since these (yes, I’m wearing one now) and for how often I wear them, their cost per wear has more than earned themselves their space in my wardrobe. The new lower price has tempted me into adding some because there’s one feature of this skirt - beyond it being gorgeous - that makes it the perfect Christmas Day outfit.

My favourite feature - along with many of the other 80+ shoppers that have left reviews on the New Look website - is the super stretchy . It makes it super comfortable to wear and super figure-flattering, but most importantly, means there’s plenty of give for when you tuck into that Christmas dinner, festive cheese board, mince pie platter, or all of the above.

Online, one five-star review read: “Great , elasticated waist is brilliant and true to size, very flattering on.” Another added: “90's style making the comeback! Absolutely love it. I tried to order size 18 but they were sold out. I tried size 20 and glad I did. Elastic waist and smooth material hides my bumps.”

With a third commenting: “Flattering shape, lovely colour and elasticated waistband so easy to wear and comfortable.” One shopper did say it ‘takes a bit of fiddling to sit right’, but loved the length and material, rating it four stars. I thought it was quite easy to put on and mine didn’t require any titivating, however I do know how easy it is for elastic waistbands to twist - though it’s usually a simple fix.

Others have suggested it ‘looks more expensive’ than its suggests, and since it’s now even cheaper it’s hard to disagree. They look so glossy in real life, with a beautiful texture to the fabric and the quality is much more premium than has come to be expected with high street style in recent years, feeling soft against the skin and not at all rough or rigid.

These are effortlessly elevated for any occasion, be it the office, dinner dates, drinks and more. Another reviewer said: “Wearing this skirt right now. Bringing it into Autumn with an oversized jumper and knee high boots,” while another added: “Love these satin skirts. Got the burgundy and just ordered navy.”

Whether you’re planning on throwing on a Christmas jumper and chilling on the sofa, or want to dress it up with heels and a blazer, this skirt is the perfect cosy glam pick for the Christmas party season and beyond.
