A family-of-four have been found dead inside a home on a military airfield after soldiers requested a welfare check.

Military police discovered the bodies of a soldier, her husband and their two children on Wednesday afternoon after members of the soldier's unit in Fort Stewart, southeast Georgia, became concerned, the U.S. Army said.

The statement did not say whether investigators were seeking suspects, but said the deaths were "isolated incident" and added there is no threat to the broader community. Fort Stewart spokesperson Kevin Larson declined to comment further, citing the active investigation. Thomas Hamilton, a spokesperson for the Army Criminal Investigation Division, said that "the individuals associated with this incident have been identified."

But he declined to say whether any suspects had been apprehended or were being sought. The Army did not immediately release the names of those found dead.Fort Stewart is the biggest Army post east of the Mississippi River. Located about 40 miles (65 kilometers) southwest of Savannah, it is home to the Army's 3rd Infantry Division.

Fort Stewart Hunter Army Airfield said in a Facebook post: "Law enforcement is on the scene of an incident in on-post housing. The Department of the Army Criminal Investigation Division is aware of and investigating this incident. There is no reason to believe that there is an extended threat to our community."

HAAF provides support and services to a population of approximately 4,400 Active Duty Military, 14,350 Family Members of Active Duty; 9,390 Military Retirees; 31,970 Family Members of Retirees; 1,200 Civilian Employees; 230 Contractors; 1,600 Reserve Component; and 3,790 Family Members of Reserve Components, according to Military Installations.
