Baldur's Gate 3's Xbox release date to be confirmed at The Game Awards
Larian Studios has confirmed that the Baldur's Gate 3 Xbox release date will finally be revealed at The Game Awards on December 7, 2023.
The Baldur's Gate 3 Xbox release saga is almost at an end. It began earlier this year when Larian Studios claimed that the Xbox Series S was holding back the port due to troubles getting split-screen co-op working on the console. Then at Gamescom, it was announced that Baldur's Gate 3 will be hitting Xbox in 2023, albeit with the Xbox Series X|S' parity clause lifted in a rare exception – meaning split-screen will be unavailable on Xbox Series S.
Earlier this week Larian Studios posted a tweet which told Xbox fans to "watch this space", adding that "it's going to be a busy week", which put players on high alert for a Baldur's Gate 3 Xbox release date announcement. But on Wednesday evening, the developer posted another tweet which read: "Xbox players, we hear you’re looking for more news on Baldur’s Gate 3. The game is on track for a December release." The studio then advised players to tune into The Game Awards (at which Baldur's Gate 3 is the most nominated title with 7 nominations – including Game of the Year) for the exact Baldur's Gate 3 Xbox release date.
When is The Game Awards?
The Game Awards are set to take place on Thursday, December 7. However, since the event is taking place in Los Angeles, it starts on Friday, December 8 for those in the UK. The Game Awards will start with a 30-minute preshow at 12:30am GMT on Friday, December 8, or 7:30pm EST / 4:30pm PST on Thursday, December 7.
The event is set to last for 3 hours (not including the preshow) and will come to an end at 4am GMT on Friday, December 8, or 11pm EST / 8pm PST on Thursday, December 7.

Sadly, there's no way of knowing just when the Baldur's Gate 3 Xbox release date is set to be announced during the show, so it's just a case of keeping an eye out during the event to know for sure. However, there are sure to be all manner of announcements as the night goes on, and we're almost certain you'll be seeing Baldur's Gate 3 take home Game of the Year at the end of the night too.
